“Mild” but hospitals overloaded.
“Mild” but healthcare workers burnt out.
“Mild” but thousands of flights cancelled.
“Mild” but no booster shots for kids in under-ventilated schools.
“Mild” brain damage.
“Mild” collapse of society.
3) I love how those who dismiss COVID as mild always eventually fall back to arguing what they really care about… the $$$… #DontLookUp is the most brilliant movie 🍿 of our times.
4) Whoever says “mild” is also arrogantly and idiotically throwing our children our future generation UNDER THE BUS! 1 year record high #COVID19 hospitalizations. 👇
5) The @CDCgov lost a lot of credibility this week with their isolation rule change—something that will take a long time to earn back. The “mild” narrative has even been used by CDC recently and extremely damage. They should know better and do know. We need better leadership.
6) If hospitalizations in England are running significantly ahead of projected forecasts (more people being hospitalized & sooner than expected)… does the “it’s mild” narrative even hold up anymore? Besides hospitalizations ignore #LongCovid
8) we are honestly sleepwalking into a disaster which we haven’t seen before in the coming weeks. It’s not just healthcare infrastructure grinding to a halt… I honestly think we should stock up on supplies for the next month….
9) We are STILL in deep denial how bad #Omicron will overload hospitals and trip up society in the coming weeks as more and more get sick. It’s a 2.0 virus in completely different league - it’s a 2.0 pandemic and we need to WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!
10) if you ignore your mild case of Omicron - it could domino into a not-mild case of Omicron in a friend or family of neighbor who is vulnerable. Think of others!
11) Exactly what I said above… #Omicron “mild” talk is a critical Trojan horse for #LongCovid — Fauci says there’s no data to suggest Omicron is milder for Long COVID than Delta variant 👇
12) This looks like a completely “mild” crisis in hospitals. Totally normal. Nothing to write home about. But hey, “catastrophe is an understatement” = mild, right? No- don’t buy into the selfish “#Omicron is mild”
13) Everyone who had wildly proclaimed and touted that “Omicron is mild” to let the virus rip— now HAVE BLOOD ON THEIR HANDS… seriously people — how many people did we let die with that mild nonsense?!?!
HIP FRACTURE DEADLIER THAN CANCER for elderly. A new 🇨🇦 study finds only 1/3 of men & 1/2 of women age>=65 still alive 5 years after a hip fracture. In contrast, 5 year cancer survival higher. But we don’t focus on fracture prevention & nutrition enough. theglobeandmail.com/opinion/articl…
2) By comparison, the five-year survival rate for older adults is 85 per cent for men diagnosed with prostate cancer, 80 per cent for women with breast cancer, and 56 per cent for colon cancer.
3) Broken hips are both the most common and the deadliest (of fractures). Researchers noted that while women have much better survival rates than men after hip fractures, women are also far more likely to break bones in the first place.
“As unnerving as H5N1’s current spread in cows might be, “I would be a whole lot more concerned if this was an event in pigs’… Swine airways are evolutionary playgrounds where viruses can convert—and have converted—into ones that prefer to infect us.” 🧵 theatlantic.com/science/archiv…
2) “A flu virus that jumped from swine to humans, for instance, catalyzed the 2009 H1N1 pandemic. If there’s a list of riskiest animals for an avian flu to infiltrate, “pigs are clearly at the top,” Webby said”
3) “To successfully spread in a new species, a flu virus must infiltrate that creature’s cells, reproduce inside of them, and then make it to the next host. This H5N1 has managed that feat in several animals, but so far, “we’re actually still dealing with a very avian virus,”
⚠️NO RARE BEEF!—@USDA suddenly admits (after Q&A pestering) that 120F cooked beef🥩patties experimentally inoculated with H5N1 virus still had surviving virus.
➡️“Cooking to… 120° F did show that there was virus still in the cooked hamburger patty, although at reduced levels."
2) Initially the @USDA only stated that no virus survived cooking to 160 F and 145 F. But they didn’t volunteer the 120 F rare cooking temperature results! Only after more questioning did they reveal 120 F virus survival. But so many folks eat rare meat! 🥩 DISCLOSURE CRITICAL!
UPDATE—Solar Storm hits the highest level of G5, the first in over 2 decade, which could knock out power to grids and disrupt GPS. A coronal mass ejection of G5 was also what the infamous “Carrington Event” was in 1859. But it depends on magnetic 🧲 polarity of each CME wave. NOAA warned earlier today that CME storms tend to be even stronger on the latter half of a storm wave. Let’s hope the next two days won’t be as extreme as the Carrington Event. #solarstorm
3) We are potentially in for a wild weekend. We haven’t been hit with this many CMEs in a long ass time. Nor has NOAA alerted with a GEOMAGNETIC STORM WATCH in over 20 years.
⚡️INBOUND SOLAR STORMS—5x mega coronal mass ejections - CMEs - that can knock out power are going to be slamming at Earth 🌍 between Friday and Sunday this weekend. Earth has only been hit with 3 previous severe CMEs in last 4 years. But we are gonna get 5x G4 CMEs in 3 days!😳
2) Let this sink — this is the first GEOMAGNETIC STORM WATCH since 2005!
Folks - this is serious - it can knock out not only electricity but it can theoretically knock out airplanes ✈️ too!
3) Folks- it’s possible. Not only can it cause higher radiation and knock out communications, but a strong CME can knock out airliner avionics. “according to reports by aviation regulators, the issue is not whether it will happen, but when” 😳 thedailybeast.com/how-a-solar-st…
