Kim Jong Un’s New Year’s Resolution 2022 focus is: To Have More Food - for the people of North Korea.
2/More Food For North Korea: Solving the food shortage

Goals for 2022:
Develop the economy and improve people’s lives
Strengthen nuclear weapons base to build nuclear deterrence as national defense

“In his pledge to resolve the food crisis he shared how they’ll increase
3/“agricultural production and resolve the food problem. In the coming 10 years, North Korea will have specified food production goals. Kim forgave all debts of the farmers to the gov’t. But why is North Korea facing a food shortage?”

The reasons for North Korea’s food shortage
4/are two-sided:

Nature:
In 2020 3 massive typhoons hit North Korea, destroying 16,000 homes and most of the agricultural production. Heavy rain & floods destroyed more than 40,000 hectares of cropland.
In 2021 a heatwave caused a water shortage which led to a drought and
5/“increased the rural water shortage issues and killed the majority of livestocks.

Pandemic: B/c of the pandemic North Korea shut its borders w/ China with the rising fear of COVID-19. This caused a huge impact on the country‘s food productions.
North Korea was unable to
6/“supplement its lost agricultural productions.”

So Kim Jong Un is totally focused on putting food on the table. But those in Washington & Seoul will say: “He’s starving his people!” He’s doing Food AND Defense. I’ll just say the level of disconnect is truly astounding.

@SungYoonLee1 @BBCWorld The bellicosity is really overflowing in his 2022 New Year’s speech. And DPRK isn’t supposed have self-defensive nuclear deterrence? BS.
@SungYoonLee1 @BBCWorld The last thing DPRK’s FM’s words are👇 is “buffoonish bellicosity”:
“We already clarified that we will counter the U.S. on the principle of power for power and goodwill for goodwill.”
@SungYoonLee1 @BBCWorld It’s impressive pretzel logic to rationalize DPRK’s National Defense as being the so-called “threat” to ROK & the international community. It requires believing that DPRK is intent on “reunifying the KP under socialism by force”.

North Korea tests another ‘hypersonic’ missile
Pyongyang says Wednesday's missile test was successful and helped prove the reliability of a new fuel system

2/Because the Armistice hasn't yet delivered a Peace Treaty, and neither side trusts the other, there are 2 sides to the coin:
"KCNA stated that the test launch has “strategic significance” towards “hastening the task for modernizing the strategic armed force of the state,” as
3/"part of its five-year defense development plan introduced at the Jan. 2021 party congress."
International law, that every country has the right to defend its sovereignty against existential threats made by another country, trumps UNSC Resolutions. DPRK is using nuclear

Return of the Foreign Ministry: Choe Son Hui’s Message to the US
[MARCH 18, 2021]
“We have already declared our stand that no DPRK-U.S. contact and dialogue of any kind can be possible unless the U.S. rolls back its hostile policy towards the DPRK.”

2/It seems like Blinken, Harry Harris & the US-ROK team can't figure out why Kim Jong Un won't pick up the phone and say: "Hey Joe, what's happening. Let's talk."
3/They must not be keeping tabs on how DPRK negatively perceives Biden. I've never seen high-ranking officials more tone-deaf or unprepared in US-DPRK relations than under this Biden Admin.

2/US’s Secretary of State = DPRK’s Foreign Minister, so Choe Son Hui is Anthony Blinken’s counterpart. Her message to the US tho has fallen on deaf ears or, more likely, is incomprehensible to Washington. Someone tell me why.
“In order for a dialogue to be made, an atmosphere
3/“for both parties to exchange words on an equal basis must be created.”
“It seems the U.S. has not yet dropped the habit of doggedly faulting the DPRK…If the U.S. wants so much to sit even once with us face to face, it has to drop its bad habit and adopt a proper stand from

DPRK has low regard for Joe Biden:
[Rabid Dog Must Be Beaten to Death: KCNA Commentary
[Date: 14 Nov 2019]
“Pyongyang, November 14 (KCNA) -- A rabid dog in the U.S. has another fit of spasm, being greedy for power.

A crow is never whiter for often washing. Baiden, still going reckless, not coming to his senses

Such rabid dogs are second to none in their craftiness in seeking their own interests.

Such a profiteer who ran for the two failed presidential elections has now

I believe that North Korean youth know their history b/c as a people they lived thru it.
