There’s been a lot of if you liked ___ stock at 100 you will like it better at 40, -60% off its highs.
I’m going to invert this. If you liked shorting terminal melting ice cube sh1tco at 100 , you will like it better at 150, 50% above your entry.
The last few days remind me of a year ago…in reverse.
Market feels like it’s gunning for the weak, just as it was 1 year ago. We only saw the body bags publicly revealed a few months later. Took time.
And just like a year ago, the “gun for the weak” actually began in q4 2020
But “the weak” right now are different from the ones a year ago.
This may not play out exactly same way as it did a year ago. We will see.
many have pointed to the Fed, rotation, pulled fwd demand, or marginal supply/demand as the "why" behind the price action...
yet I would not underestimate the power of "gunning for the weak" as a behavioral phenomenon, and driver of marginal price.
there's a chance some market participants have (legally obtained) advantageous info over you and me, regarding near term future "liquidity requirements" of certain market participants...
we shall see.
As one example (and without loss of generality): we only heard about Melvin near the end...
the market was clearly gunning for that for some time.
Still A LOT of time left this year. We haven't even finished the 1st inning. I will say:
the same "valuation" that provided support to some sh1tco melting ice cubes...
may act as a ceiling, absent a fundamental + radical change of business.
live by the sword, die by the sword.
the great "value to growth" rotation of the early 2000s - 2008 didn't prevent sh1tcos from going sh1tco.q.
may have delayed in some cases,
but that's pretty much it.

Let me translate “Myth 1”: the Chinese people went from starving poor 40 years ago, to poor but not starving, today. Depending on who you ask, this is thx to CCP or the Chinese ppl.
Starving ppl tend to worry more about making ends meet than the right to sh1tpost abt Beijing.
Also, when most of your people go from starving poor to poor (but not starving)…people tend to trust the system, give it benefit of doubt, and expect a better tomorrow vs today.
