As mentioned in the quoted Rgvedic verses, the Adityas were originally seven:- Varuna, Mitra, Aryaman, Daksha, Bhaga, Amsha and Savitar. The eighth one is Maarthaanda, the sun-god, also known as Vivasvan, Vivasvat and Surya.
