Before #Omicron 6,431 children in the U.S. were hospitalized for multi-system inflammatory syndrome (MISC) due to COVID & 55 of those kids died. Kids with MISC are SICK & require ICU care, often with blood pressure support, steroids, blood thinners, and sometimes life support
MISC is an inflammatory reaction in the body that develops about 4 weeks after infection with COVID. Each rise in COVID infection has been followed by an increase in #MISC 4 weeks later. covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tra… 
In the last month, 458 children have developed multi-system inflammatory syndrome and 3 died. The median age of patients with MIS-C was 9 years. Half of children with MIS-C were between the ages of 5 and 13 years.

Parents of unvaccinated children, should be aware of multi-system inflammatory syndrome because children may be asymptomatic during initial infection, but develop weakness, stomachache, fever or rash weeks later resulting in hospitalization.

Every family with a child hospitalized for multisystem inflammatory syndrome is always unaware of MIS-C.

Receipt of 2 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is highly effective in preventing MIS-C in persons aged 12–18 years. These findings further reinforce the COVID-19 vaccination recommendation for eligible children. cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/7…
Of note, the analysis focused on the 12- to 18-year age group because Pfizer vaccinations weren’t available to younger kids until November.
