The House of Lords is voting on Part 10 of the #PolicingBill that will increase discrimination against Black men.

Liberty and @JENGbA are calling on Peers to stand up for equality and justice and block these measures. libertyhumanrights.org.uk/issue/policing…
@JENGbA New civil orders and police powers in the #PolicingBill will entrench discredited #JointEnterprise

Described by the Supreme Court as “a wrong turn”, joint enterprise is a proven route to injustice.
@JENGbA #JointEnterprise has led to bystanders being convicted of the most serious crimes, and is often used to criminalise Black men, young people and women.

@JENGbA The #PolicingBill’s Serious Violence Reduction Orders will repeat these mistakes.

They give police power to place restrictions on people convicted of offensive weapons offences - incl 1000s convicted by joint enterprise even though they themselves didn’t handle a weapon.
@JENGbA So restrictions could be imposed on people who have not committed a crime – but breaching those restrictions will be a crime.

Police will also be able to stop and search anyone who has an SVRO without suspicion any time they are in a public place.
@JENGbA These powers risk entrenching the injustice of joint enterprise, and the discrimination seen across the criminal justice system.

With campaign group @JENGbA we’ve written to MPs and Peers calling on them to block SVROs.

On Monday the House of Lords can bin some of the most dangerous and discriminatory anti-protest measures in Gov's #PolicingBill.

🗳️Liberty's voting guide for Peers⬇️
The #PolicingBill allows police to put conditions on a protest if they reasonably believe the noise generated may seriously disrupt an organisation in the area or may "have a significant and relevant impact on persons in the vicinity".

This has to go. Vote to remove police abili...
Noise is - LITERALLY - how we make our voices heard.

We are deeply saddened and angered by the needless deaths of people trying to reach safety in the UK.
The continued loss of life in the Channel as well as in detention centres around the country are a direct result of the Government's racist #HostileEnvironment policies.
The answer can never be to ramp up toxic policies - which Gov's Nationality and Borders Bill (aka #AntiRefugeeBill) does by proposing pushbacks at sea and offshore 'processing' of asylum seekers.

And just this week Gov announced a new prison-like detention centre for women.

#WeProtest to make our voices heard when the powerful refuse to listen.

When the council tried to evict @Sistah_Space, Ngozi and Rose campaigned for a safe space for Black DV survivors.

The #PolicingBill would have stopped them. Email your MP to scrap it action.libertyhumanrights.org.uk/page/92606/act…

A word on #VaccinePassports... The Prime Minister standing in front of a podium at a corona
#VaccinePassports will create a two-tier society where some people can access services and others are shut out.

And it's the most marginalised whose rights will be worst affected.
No NHS number? Then you can't prove your vaccination status.

Many Gypsy, Roma and Traveller people, homeless people and migrants for example don't have NHS numbers.
