I grew my Shopify App by partnering with other apps.

That's one of the best ways to get new users.

Here's how I did it πŸ‘‡

>>> THREAD <<<
There are 2 ways to partner with another app:

β€’ Technical Integration
β€’ Marketing integration

You can do both.
Technical Integration is when you make sure you're app works perfectly with another one.

Marketing Integration is just to use your users and promote another app. You can do it with blog posts, in-app banners, etc.
1/ Always add technical integration

I don't like to do Marketing Integration only.

I feel like I'm chained to this app and that I approve of everything they do. And It's harder to work with another similar app if you do this.
Like: I will talk about your app only because mine works perfectly with it.

So I will create articles in the helpdesk.

I will add a banner in an integration tab directly into the dashboard. Etc.
2/ For the 1st integrations go with the apps your users already use

Don't pick up random apps to integrate with them!

Listen to your users to know which app to integrate.

Sometimes you will need the help of the other app.
3/ Contact the other app when it's done

Tell them you integrated their app and ask them if they are willing to add you as well in their dashboard/helpdesk.

It's not marketing at this point. It's just a way to help users know that your app works with others.
4/ Talk about co-marketing

Then you can discuss with the other app to create co-marketing actions.

You can for example write blog posts or send emails.
5/ Find new potential integrations

When you've integrated all the app your users use and asked you to do

It's time to find new apps.

Explore the app stores and find potential apps that you can integrate with yours.

Contact them to know if they want it too.
6/ Go for apps that are the same size as yours

The best way to get a reply is to contact apps that are the same size as you.
That's not that complicated.

Find apps your users use. Integrate with them. Show in your dashboard/website that you integrate with them.

They do the same β€” quick win.

I've built more than 6 SaaS these last 6 years. βš™οΈ

They didn't all succeed. πŸ˜…

Today I'm sharing 8 tips that will save you time and money.

This is for all #IndieHackers

πŸ‘‡
1/ Finding a SaaS Idea in 5 minutes

You need to go for problems. Not ideas

1. Choose a niche
2. Join Facebook Groups about that niche
3. Read all the posts you can find.
4. Ask yourself: "What is the problem here?"

Some examples where you can think about a problemπŸ‘‡ ImageImage
2/ Validating your SaaS in 5 minutes

This is crucial before working on your SaaS.

1. Go to Facebook Groups where your target is
2. Design or pay someone to design what your app should look like
3. Ask people if they want what you offer

Some examples πŸ‘‡ ImageImage

Do not add everything that comes to your mind in your SaaS! 😱

More features don't mean more value.

And it can even increase your churn!

Let me explain

>>> THREAD <<<
When you're building your SaaS you might think the more you give the better.

But it's not true.

Your users don't want more features. They just want to get the value your SaaS has been created for.
It means that if you can give the value they need with only 1 feature. Do it.

It won't change the pricing.

And this is something you understand when you're focused on your user and not your product.

I took my Shopify App WideBundle from $0 to $25,000 MRR in less than a year.

Never paid ads. πŸ’Έ

Today I am sharing with you the whole process.

>>> THREAD <<<
I first want to say that what worked for me might not work for you.

Do not try to copy exactly what I did. You can use that as an inspiration.

Let's go!
1/ We need to start with the back story.

We're in 2020. Covid-19 just started.

Everyone is staying at home and people are making a lot of money in e-commerce.

We have more people on Shopify.

I was in my last year before graduation and I had to do an internship.

I have built 6+ apps. Some were successful, some not.

Now I always ask myself 8 questions before working on something new.

And I know the app will work if I get 8 YES.

Here are the questions.

>>> THREAD <<<
Before showing you the questions.

I didn't say that the app won't work if you get a "NO".

It will probably be harder.
1/ Did I start with a problem?

Don't lie to yourself. Sometimes you might think, "Yea, I started with a problem," but it's not the case.

Sometimes you invented the problem.

I started SaaS many years ago.

And I did a lot of mistakes before my "successful SaaS" πŸ˜….

So here we go.

15 mistakes I made you can learn from 🧡
1/ I started SaaS based on an idea and not a problem

Someday I woke up, thought about a cool idea, and started to build it.

But never got any user doing that.
2/ I tried for years to find the next $1 billion idea

You won't find it.

Most successful businesses you know today didn't start as a $1 billion idea.

They became one.

I started my 1st Shopify App 3 years ago.

Today I own a $25k MRR app.

But I hadn't found a lot of information back then.

So here we go. My Christmas gift! 🎁

24 things I wish I knew when I started my Shopify AppπŸ‘‡
1/ There are a lot of opportunities for apps.

You just have to talk to merchants to understand their pain and what's missing in the App Store.

New apps will create new needs.
2/ Don't wait too long to submit your app on the app store.

As soon as you have a working app (even an MVP), submit it.

Because Shopify will review your app during the approval process.

The more features you have, the more changes they might ask you to make.
