1] Funny thing is, we've had many MDCs, co-existing, applying different derivatives to the original MDC name.
Need I add, we also have two ZanuPF's & perhaps two Zapus too.
We have ZanuPF & Zanu Ndonga.
For Zapu, we have the one currently in Zanu, & the Dabengwa splinter group.
2] With @mdczimbabwe deliberately keeping cards close to the proverbial chest, perhaps MDC-T group has blinked first.
The idea for MDC-T is to push MDC-A into having a new identity altogether.
This is "beneficial" to both MDC-T & ZanuPF, for different yet related reasons.
3] For MDC-T, their biggest challenge is a lack of a definitive political constituency.
Consequently, they want to bank on owning a name, and what they feel is Tsvangirai's legacy.
By doing so, they assume they will reap the reward of the legacy associated with the MDC name.
4] For ZanuPF, it's preferable for the name & it's electoral legacy to be in the hands of the less hostile Mwonzora group which offers no political threat.
The MDC, since its formation, has been a real opponent, founded to dethrone not coexist, with the ex-liberation movement
5] There is no reason to chronicle MDC-T's attitude towards a party MDC has existed to dethrone, since 1999.
They can't even criticise ZanuPF, nor expose its excesses, let alone ED.
For MDC-T, it's all rhetoric on "dialogue & national building".
This is preferable for ZanuPF.
6] Some may recall, I was absolutely against rebranding after the SC judgement
My thinking was, MDC-A was a representation of citizens' 2018 political expressions, & that needed to be protected.
Rebranding then, would have resulted in a loss of identity, constituency, & mandate
7] Back to the name fight...
It's nonsensical for Mwonzora to claim he owns the MDC/MDC-A names, let alone all other acronyms related to the same.
The SC judgement or MDC-A agreement he spoke about in this communication have absolutely nothing to do with what he's claiming here
8] I consequently see why some in MDC-A can be tempted to try and legally & politically challenge this move by Mwonzora
Challenge is, that's precisely what the Junta is banking on.
Jury is out on who ZanuPF would want to be the MDC.
State machinery will be used to ensure this
9] We are under a regime:
i. where a Min defies Court judgements & gives MDC-T, MDC-A PPFA funds
ii. where Parly disregards Court judgements in the PDP fight
iii. where ED proclaims vacancies for seats whose matter remains in court.
They are even willing to defy our courts
10] This move by Mwonzora might very well be fortified by concessions made during his previous State House visit.
This isn't farfetched at all.
I'm consequently of the opinion that fighting for this name plays into the regimes' hands & isn't worth the time & energy.
11] @mdczimbabwe has strategically kept them guessing.
Good thing is 2018 is now behind us & we are fully in a new electoral cycle.
Accept that the name has been lost.
The carpenter should look at building afresh, with new tools.
The People know who/what they want.
enkosi!!

1] ZEC shenanigans & ZanuPF's electro-phobia, as we edge towards March by-elections & indeed 2023 shouldn't be viewed in isolation.
For instance, ZEC was fully aware of by-elections dates & being a creation of the constitution, ought to have done more to entrench our democracy.
2] Last year, ZEC shared its "draft electoral road map" for by-elections.
It became imperative on them, to act swiftly in preparation of the same.
All over the country, (more so in the affected constituencies), ZEC should have ran a vigorous voter education/registration drive.
3] Now, after frustrating possible voters (in direct response to voter registration campaigns by CSOs), ZEC is happy to announce that registration is now on halt.
So many possible voters are being disenfranchised as a direct consequence of ZEC's deliberate incompetence.
1] There's a need to balance embracing ex political opponents & creating strategic allegiances founded on trust.
Politics is no child's play, neither is defeating an entrenched military dictatorship.
Any serious politician would do so, constantly checking their shoulder.
2] The same political leaders you're forcing to embrace some of these unrepentant characters like true Statesmen, will have difficult questions to answer, when you flip scripts, abusing the benefit of hindsight.
A simple case in point is the unfolding drama of Jabulani Sibanda.
3] Adv Chamisa once spoke of infiltration challenges which historically troubled the MDC.
He mentioned how ZanuPF would know some of their plans before their internal strategic meetings even ended.
Looking back now at the behaviour of these MDC-T people, you see whats at play.
2] Let's start perhaps with what the long thread ignored
Over the past few days, even if one ignored the genesis of this 'twar', Prof JN & his peers have been throwing all sorts of vitro & character assignation against WaMagaisa's person.
Prof decided to ignore this completely.
3] Prof's thread equally ignores that actual issues raises in response to his 'advice'.
Some felt he disqualified himself from having an opinion on how the funds are to be used by blueticking the initiative.
Others queried the legality of diverting funds raised through gofund.
1] When a whole Chief admits that he has had to swap jackets & vigorously campaign for his muzukuru, ED, & ZanuPF, then know he's part of the problem.
Chief simply need to maintain their identity as traditional leaders, and use that authority to lead their communities.
2] As long as Chiefs allow themselves to be entangled in partty politics, those actually occupying higher posts within those political institutions, will treat them as subordinates.
Chiwenga clearly spoke like he was reprimanding his party's self-proclaimed Provincial Commissar.
3] Individually & collectively, Chiefs needs to start conversations on how to reclaim their autonomy & identity.
They equally need not treat elected leaders as their equals, for their sources of authority are different.
How often have we heard DM & Komichi claim they campaigned vigorously for Nero?
Does it make sense, in relation to their admission that they were plotting against Nero, since the 2018 Nat Council Komichi chaired, which made him their candidate?
3] another hypothetical question:
How does a respondent "work tirelessly" for a Supreme Court judgement which they loose, whilst holding a prepared speech accepting and celebrating the judgement?
What was the role of Mwonzora,Komichi et al, in the court application, & outcome?
"Mtuli Ncube's budget was one of the most dishonest budgets ever presented. It was technically unsound & doesn't meet the test for credibility. This was a man just going through a ritualistic formality since Sec 302 of the Con demands he goes through the process"
"Mtuli Ncube presented a ZW $900 billion budget using an exchange rate of 1:105, the official exchange rather on the day he presented the budget, on the 27th of November 2021. It is a USD $8.7 billion budget. This economy can't collect USD $8.7 billion"
"you can't collect USD $8.7 billion in an economy where more than 90% of our people are unemployed; where more than 70% are in the informal sector; where according to the World Bank & other sources, 50%/70% of our people are living in extreme poverty"
