They are trying to focus on school and their graduation plans despite being bedridden with sickness.
They need to focus on their health and rest. They want to do well in school. This is causing stress.

This is not one or two students. In the past week it’s about 25-50% of students I talk to, in some way or another.
Catching COVID causes mental health chaos.
Opening schools without significant investment in safety is going to amplify this and we are not prepared.

Guess who my students are?
They are the marginalized people so many like to theoretically talk about.
This advocacy to open schools for “mental health” mentions nothing about isms and phobias which makes it inequitable. There is a conversation there.

So if you’re advocating for opening schools for the sake of mental health for students, where is your equity lens?
Where will you be when students and families living in already marginalized spaces get COVID?

1st, to the haters. Since when is it "normal" to go to work scared for your health, your life, and your family's lives? It is our right not be scared at work and our employer (in my case, the gov) needs to put measures in place so we aren't afraid. That is law, not just words.
There were 2 steps to the refusal. Refusing to work to my employer, and refusing to work to the Ministry. If my concerns were addressed in Step 1 - to my employer, there is not need to go to the Ministry. We went to the Ministry.
