Today in Georgia, @POTUS made it crystal clear: the Senate must find a path forward to enshrine critical voting rights legislation into law. President Biden is to be commended for his strong voice and leadership in this fight as we strive to protect the sacred right to vote.
The need to protect our democracy could not be more urgent, as America faces the most dangerous assault on the vote since Jim Crow. Last year, Republican lawmakers introduced over 440 voter suppression bills across 49 states, with at least 19 states enacting 34 measures into law.
Last year, @HouseDemocrats passed critical voting rights legislation. Yet, Senate Republicans cynically refuse to even begin debate on voting rights legislation – because they know the only way they can win elections is by barring voters from the ballot box.
The President forcefully declared that the time has come for the Senate to protect the vote and end the Republican nullification of elections. Nothing less than our democracy is at stake. My full statement: speaker.gov/newsroom/11122

The ongoing genocide perpetrated by the Chinese government against the Uyghur people and other Muslim minorities is a challenge to the conscience of the entire world, which requires forceful and urgent action by the international community.
Last week, @HouseDemocrats took a strong step to hold the Chinese Communist Party accountable for its exploitation of forced labor and put an end to this horrific practice with passage of Chairman Jim McGovern’s Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act.

The House, under the leadership of @RepAdamSmith, has passed a strong, bipartisan defense bill that will keep America safe, defend our servicemembers and their families and advance our nation’s leadership in the world.
For our military heroes, our legislation also provides our men and women in uniform with a well-deserved pay increase and supports their financial security and health with greater access to child care, education and housing.

I applaud President Biden’s strong leadership in announcing that there will be no official U.S. diplomatic presence at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
As I noted when I called for a diplomatic boycott last May, the last three decades of Beijing’s abusive and repressive actions show that the international community can no longer give Beijing a blank check and hope that its behavior will simply change.
While we must support and celebrate our athletes, America – and the world – cannot give our official imprimatur to these games or proceed as if there is nothing wrong with holding the Olympics in a country perpetrating genocide and mass human rights violations.

As the Supreme Court hears arguments in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, it has the opportunity and responsibility to honor the Constitution, the law and this basic truth: every woman has the constitutional right to basic reproductive health care.
