5 Strategies To Beat Procrastination Like A Boss

--- A Thread ---
1. Imagination Births Motivation

When you delay important tasks, you feel terrible later on, right?

You don’t even realise how your time went away doing nothing and now suddenly you have a lot of work on your shoulders.
The pressure you feel makes you stressed, overwhelmed and eventually you end up not doing a great job.
The best way to beat this is by using the trick I call – ‘Imagination Births Motivation’

Every morning, close your eyes for 2 minutes and imagine how you would feel when you have completed all your tasks as you had decided.

Amazing, right?
A positive feeling will set in and you will be motivated to take on the tasks at hand and do them well.

The best part of this trick is you don’t have to rely on external motivation; you will be self-propelled by your own imagination.
2. Plan Your Free Time

We plan our work tasks very well, but we do not plan our free time, because it’s our free time after all.

But, don’t forget we are living in the age of distractions.

You take a few minutes break and suddenly 60-minutes go by.

What did you do?
You aimlessly scrolled social media and watched videos that didn’t help you in any way.

Procrastination sets in and your good day goes for a toss.
Decide the break time in advance and what you want to do in that time.

Ideally, take rejuvenating breaks – take a walk in nature, listen to music, move and stretch; instead of burying your head in your phone.
This will help you stay on track and keep you thoroughly motivated to get back to your work.
3. Break down your tasks

We often delay tasks that seem to take too much time and effort.

The best way to get a big task done is by breaking it down into smaller tasks.
For eg. If you want to work out for one hour, but if that feels like a lot, then start by 20-minute work outs. Slowly and gradually increase the time.

This will trick the mind in believing that working out is easy and do-able, and so you will be able to pull it off.
4. Eliminate Internal & External Distractions

If you want to focus on something, but there are too many distractions, then it’s most likely you will fall prey to them, and your work will suffer.

So, eliminate distractions as much as possible:

Here are a few tips:
Internal distractions:

1. Meditate

2. Write down anything that troubles you

3. Talk to someone about your struggles

4. Prevent overthinking by taking action
External distractions:

1. Turn off notifications

2. Have a quiet and clean place to work

3. Have a to-do list
5. Reward Yourself

Lastly, if you’ve stuck to your plans, then it’s time you reward yourself.

Decide on it before you get on to your task – eg. I’ll call up my friend as soon as I complete this and have a good chat with her.

This will push you to work more efficiently.
Tada, procrastination will take a back seat and productivity will drive you to success!

I just learnt that one of my known who was just 40 years old passed away.

He slept in the night and never woke up.

He was a fit man with a simple lifestyle.
But, sometimes there are things that are invisible to the eyes.

The man may have suffered emotionally.

The man may have had stress he never spoke about.

There was something up with him which no one could sense.
The point I am trying to make is that,

there shouldn't be anything in the world that should stress you out so much that it takes away your life.

Learn to express. Learn to take it easy.

Nothing is worth giving up your happiness and life.

1. Reading Makes You Creative

Words of others can ignite a creativity spark within you.

That's the reason why many artists are also avid readers. Whenever they feel they're lacking inspiration, they know how it's hidden in between pages of a good book.
2. It Makes You Empathetic

When you read stories of other people's lives, you get a chance to step into their shoes and live their life.

This makes you more understanding and empathetic, and so improves your world view and interpersonal relationships.
