“Behind him there was a wall of silence, which will have been much more disconcerting than the shouts of Labour MPs in front of him. The men and women of the Conservative parliamentary party gazed at him. Their golden goose was laying diseased eggs.” inews.co.uk/opinion/boris-…
“ The great guarantor of electoral victory was tarnished, seemingly beyond repair.
There was no moral dimension to their calculation and we shouldn’t pretend otherwise. They gave up any right to that word when they allowed him to become Prime Minister”
“Boris Johnson has lied and bent the truth throughout his career. “
“And today, we were treated to the new lie, hastily erected as the last one falls to dust, this time so absurd that even a child wouldn’t dare to use it: that he was unaware that the party he organised and attended was in fact a party.”
“ It is a lie wrapped in a lie wrapped in a lie, a pitiless drop into the oblivion of hypocrisy. An administration which has a sorry relationship with truthfulness, crumbling under its own contradictions.”
“Tory MPs must have known about these things, but it appears they did not care so long as Johnson maintained his electoral popularity. Now that is gone, blown away by an act of deceit which speaks profoundly and directly to people’s sacrifices during the pandemic.”
Exactly
“A new leader will probably provide a short-term rise in Tory polling, but it is not a true solution. What’s happened here is bigger than the person in charge. It is a hole in the heart of the Conservative party.”
“What does the Conservative party stand for after two and a half years of Johnson’s leadership? Levelling-up or fiscal discipline? The Red Wall or the Southern shires? Responsible economic management or the rip-it-up national adventurism of Brexit?”
“Sober government or flashy showbusiness? No-one can tell you, because in truth the party gave up on values and committed itself entirely to an empty focus on popularity. Without it, there is no ground left to find purchase.”

2 separate leaving parties merging into one as the night wore on.
Someone was sent to the Co-op on the Strand, a busy street nearby, with a suitcase which was then filled with bottles of wine and brought back to Downing Street, according to one person at the gathering that night
That being so, why did not someone such as Dick go to the PM & PPS and have a tactful word early on eg “You really cannot do this as we would, in fairness, be forced to intervene to uphold the laws you passed even handedly”
Did she (or a DAC Protection and Security) not do that
We know these parties were still going on months later.
What were the private conversations between police officers on duty, their senior officers to whom they report and those at the very top?
MI5 send urgent email to MPs warning about Chinese woman
Christine Lee has been engaged in political interference activities on behalf of the Chinese Communist Party, engaging with MPs & associated political entities, inc the APPG: Chinese in Britain dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1…
'I should highlight the fact that Lee has facilitated financial donations to serving and aspiring Parliamentarians on behalf of foreign nationals based in Hong Kong & China
'This facilitation was done covertly to mask the origins of the payments.’
So which MPs were hoodwinked?
H/t @iamdarrellmills for this article actually mentioning Christine Lee. It seems awfully old (3 years) to be the object of the current statement.
But the reference was to MPs (plural) so who else has Chinese interests?
But I’m certain it could have been extended were he willing.
The party revelations will have offended him and the blow back on officials who work with this admin isn’t good for their reputations.
Nor the current death toll. A policy failure.
Also, given the content of his Royal Society lectures, one cannot help but think that he has felt at odds with Gov policy decisions for quite a while.
