Likewise, students loved @V_Terriquez's paper on intersectional mobilization for the way it cross cut sexual, racial, and immigrant identity:…
Unsurprisingly, chapters from Bonilla-Silva's "Racism without Racists" is a must. We read the first two and conclusion.…
I assign my first grad school pub, with Heather Kettry, after reading Racism without Racist because we interrogate colorblind racism on the web.…
Another big hit, as I have mentioned, is @jcmueller and colleagues paper on racial costuming…
I added a new article this year by Jennifer Leeman which elicited one of the best conversations on the US Census and racialization (or not) of Latinx/Hispanic…
To get at the complexity of identities as shaped by history, location, and language, @anthonyocampo's work is perfect!…
Students always have a lot to say, from lived experience, about @drvictorrios work on the hypercriminalization of Black and Latino males…
Colorism might be one of the hottest topics in class. Students got a lot from @EllisMonk's work on Brazil…
Which we read alongside Lance Hannon's work on white colorism. Honestly, I could teach a whole course on colorism…

First, Nikki Kanna's work has explored passing and reflected appraisals for mixed race folks. Here w/ Cathryn Johnson on Black mixture "Passing as Black: Racial Identity Work among Biracial Americans"… and also Asian Ams too…
I love Jenn Sims' (@RavenclawSoc23) @SREJournal article on how questioning race impacts ID choice: "Reevaluation of the Influence of Appearance and Reflected Appraisals for Mixed-Race Identity: The Role of Consistent Inconsistent Racial Perception"…
