🍽 Scott Wilkie Primary School in Newham has banned sweet treats with its school lunches.

Staff were concerned that puddings were causing a ‘sugar crash’ which left pupils tired and irritable in the afternoon 🎓😒
🍬The budget previously used for puddings will now cater for a healthy morning snack for pupils at the school

The snacks include fruit bowls, yoghurts and cereal bars 🍎

Full story:
👩‍🏫 Executive headteacher Keri Edge said children were often “tired and irritable” in the afternoon due to a sugar crash.

Staff believed it was impacting their “capacity to learn”.
🗣 Explaining the decision, Ms Edge also mentioned obesity.

📰 Full story:
💬 Some parents initially raised concerns about the decision to ban pudding.

But many have reportedly since moved to back the scheme after noticing an improvement in their children’s engagement.
🏫 Scott Wilkie is among the best primary schools in the country.

Progress scores in core subjects at the Newham school, such as reading, writing and maths, are way above the national average 📚
