Hey #path2path #PathMatch22 applicants! Thinking about your rank list and wondering what📍Rochester, Minnesota is like?

In a word, beautiful 😍

A 🧵 for those who won’t get a chance to visit us this #virtual interview season! @MayoClinicPath @MayoClinic
Just to get it out of the way…

YES, it gets cold here 🥶❄️ Yes, it snows 🌨

But as someone who grew up in the desert ➡️ and then lived in TX 🤠 ➡️ if I can handle it, you definitely can too! (Just need to get yourself some good gear🧥🥾 - I’ve got suggestions!)
If you don’t want to go outside in the winter, Mayo Clinic & Rochester have tunnels & sky bridges connecting the med center w downtown, including from the parking ramps to the hospital 🏥
But personally, I’m excited for outdoor activities like snowshoeing & cross-country skiing!
And spring, summer, and autumn are absolutely GORGEOUS 😍 (and IMO well-worth the cold)

Many of my favorite activities involve the outdoors - Rochester has many walking/biking trails all around the city ⬇️ and @DowntownRochMN has lots of fun activities 👍🏼
🌿 Spring in my backyard:
☀️ Summer at nearby Whitewater State Park
🍁 Annual autumn trip with my co-residents: @LuisaRicaurteMD @pathophil
Lots of us take trips around Minnesota on weekends - Minneapolis/St. Paul is around 90 minutes away for those looking for city life 🌃

Plus there’s my personal fav Boundary Waters (and other excellent parks) up north ⬇️
Coming from a big city (Houston), adjusting was easier than I thought:

📌 Minnesota nice 😊 is a real thing
📌 There’s no traffic!🚦You can live anywhere you want in Rochester (or the surrounding area)
📌 Reasonable cost of living - buying a house🏡 or renting 🏢 is feasible
📌 Rochester has its own ✈️ airport (security is a breeze)
📌 Excellent amenities (e.g. community events like Thursdays on 1st, well-maintained parks🌲and trails, fantastic @RochPubLibrary)
📌 Good selection of restaurants in town (+ easy access to Twin cities for more variety)
I truly do love living here 😊

End 🧵

#PathMatch2022 #path2path #CouplesMatch feel free to reach out if you have questions 👍🏼
