FACTS about #Dholpur incident #Assam

Dholpur, an area with 25,000 acres of land along with a 5,000-year-old Shiva temple and cave has been under illegal encroachment. More and more people are coming to settle, displacing the indigenous population.

30,000 acres of land has been encroached. The indigenous populations are affected by endless robbery & dacoity in the area.

Assam Govt took up an eviction initiative after discussion with local Muslim populations, in return of promising land as per land policy. They agreed.

Eviction drive was going on peacefully for 2 days, but 10,000 people attacked the cops today & they had to retaliate. 2 people lost lives with 8 injured.

The situation has been diluted & Assam govt has been constantly in touch with Muslim organisations to maintain peace.
