Last week I posted a similar picture . This week is no different . I guarantee I won’t be in dover until 8pm tonight at the earliest . I hate this shit #Calais#Brexit
It’s not much better behind me . It’s out to the a16 motorway now .

The staff at dover and Calais who work for the ferry operators essentially control and make brexit work- staff who have had no pay rise or recognition for all the extra work they do booking in commercial traffic.they are essentially doing the job a customs agent should be doing
I asked the poor women in the booth at Calais today - she was stressed out and explained it’s non stop booking in trucks - she said they must scan the T1 / GMR / check the goods against the import declaration. I honestly don’t know how they do it day in day out . It’s non stop
She basically said they are doing two jobs . Said the shortest booking in time was 4 minutes - but averaged anything from 10-20 minutes per vehicle . That’s why it’s getting worse at our port entrances .
From March 2022 ALL commercial vehicles over 2500 up to 3500 KGS need to adhere to new rules to transport goods to Europe- it appears the “exemption” does not include travel to the EU . If this is the case it’s huge-expect the virtual collapse of the express transport industry
This is my own exemption - the stupid thing is you don’t need this for the U.K. . Only travel into Europe .
Final confirmation coming in March 2022 .. that’s leaves hardly any time to get prepared . What a mess
Well if you wanted to see what brexit has done to all incoming commercial traffic . This is Calais port now - queuing for miles outside the port to get in . Hours waiting now . I hate this shit
Five days to go until importing into the U.K. becomes a nightmare. Then there is may when all vans need an ops licence and transport manager to drive on the continent. I think from here there will be a massive drop off of drivers/ owner drivers small companies. Sunlit uplands
The cost of transport by vans up to 3500kgs is going to significantly increase . Reg numbers must match the import documents - and you have to specify your route into the U.K. . Co-loading is as good as dead . It’s suddenly become a bit more specialised now .
It benefits no one . Prior to brexit - you could have ten jobs on your van , reducing costs to customers. Whilst increasing your profitability per run. That’s gone. Now it’s one job out and one job in . Can’t risk one job if another has incorrect paperwork = stuck in customs
Just a heads up - expect a potentially massive downturn in goods coming to the U.K. - or out - seems the rules have changed and drivers now need a PCR test to enter DE .
Isn’t this a result of crazily high figures daily for months now with no face masks ? If this also includes drivers transiting - I suspect it is. -no one will come here
From 01/01/22 full customs clearance becomes reality- that means up to 10,000 trucks a day in and out of Calais / folkestone being subject to full clearance. That means having to stop and collect customs papers and surrender docs upon entry. 1/2
Sevington inland border facility has the capacity for 475 trucks . If 10% of trucks have to stop on their way IN to clear customs the entire place would be inundated within hours . And that doesn’t include the outbound commercial traffic trying to collect their paperwork
Put it this way- if the U.K. used the green/ orange traffic light system for trucks on inbound freight from the EU-U.K. and only 10% of trucks get called in That’s TWICE the capacity of the largest inland border clearance facility closest to the point of entry from the EU
