1/ A vision for CryptoSkulls and Historical NFTs 💀
2/ For years OG NFT collectors have been quietly whispering that a time would come when all would know the stories and lore of NFT’s past.

And so the historical NFT communities and the modern NFT space lived in separate worlds.
3/ Until last Tuesday when something unexpected happened.

10,000 colorful, 8-bit skulls created 3 years ago set in motion a series of events that would eventually lead to the prophecy being fulfilled.
4/ The skulls finally bridged the gap between modern pfp mint culture and historical NFTs thus opening the door for collectors to everything that came before them. Image
5/ We sparked a fire around historical NFTs that grows stronger every day.

This will be the skull’s legacy.

We will carry the torch forward and lead the charge back down the timeline until every historical NFT is given the recognition it deserves.
6/ How will we do that?

We will follow in the footsteps of one of the most effective brands in the world.

Nike didn’t merely sell shoes.

It used its platform to honor great athletes.

CryptoSkulls will honor the early pioneers from NFT's past.
7/ We will honor the artists, builders, and collectors who were brave enough to lay the foundations for which every NFT released today is built on.

And together the skulls and these early pioneers will tell a unified story.
8/ CryptoSkulls will strategically partner with other historical NFT communities and use our platform to give others a voice.

For example, our first partnership was with the Eggs and we will be hosting a space with them very soon.

9/ CryptoSkulls have a unique opportunity with the ~1,800 unsold skulls. We are working towards a thoughtful solution to get a lot of these into a multisig wallet controlled by the community. This will give us the resources needed to fund our vision and grow the skull community.
10/ For example, should the community decide to, we could create an archive of historical NFTs and use our funds to strategically add the most iconic early relics to it. We could then build an interactive museum experience in the metaverse for displaying these pieces.
11/ I am just one member of a community that is now 4,229 strong, but this is my vision for what we could aspire to achieve. It will ultimately be up to the entire community to decide what direction we want to go in.
12/ This is an ambitious vision and I think it’s more likely than not that we aren’t able to pull it off. But if we do it will be legendary and we will have created a symbol and an institution that are still standing a century from now.
13/ Historical NFTs are a movement.

Our communities are stronger together and together we will rise.

17 Tenets of the Historical NFTs Thesis 🧵
Tenet I: There is no limit to the supply of NFTs that will emerge in the future, but there is an iron-clad hard cap on the scarcity of those in the past.

This @WRabbit1111 quote so perfectly encapsulates why historical NFTs make for such a good store of value.
Tenet II: Historical NFTs are fad-proof.

Because historical NFTs have an underlying historical value to collectors they become timeless. Whether it be 1 year, 10 years, or 100 years from now, collectors will still covet them for this intrinsic value.

Five Web3 primitives you should know about 🧵
1/ Tokens

The first primitive we built on blockchains was tokens. They allow us to own and transfer slices of a pie. Bitcoin introduced currency as their first use case then when Ethereum came along we started using them for things like governance and fractionalized ownership.
2/ NFTs

We eventually realized that we could make each token unique and indivisible then attach a bunch of metadata to it. Thus non-fungible tokens were born. At first we used them as domain names on Namecoin then later we realized we could make art and tokenize gaming assets.

2/ Humanity is embarking on an adventure into the metaverse but in order for us to build a brighter future we must first understand our past. This is the story of how it all began…
3/ In June of 1992, Neal Stephenson published the science fiction novel Snow Crash which presented a profound vision for a future iteration of the internet made up of shared, 3D virtual spaces linked into a perceived virtual universe. He called it the "metaverse".

1/ Another metaverse thread. Why we have to beat Facebook and the 1000x case for the emerging NFT asset class 👇
2/ The digital age is upon us and all roads lead to a VR metaverse with billions of people living, working, and gaming inside. The only question is how far off is it?
3/ Billions of humans will need to have access to a headset that matches real life when they put it on. This means that we will need a mass-produced headset with a resolution and frame rate that match the human eye.

1/ A continuation of the open metaverse discussions going on.

Thread focus: This is going to be some Ready Player One shit.
2/ An open metaverse isn’t a given and it’s probably not even the most likely outcome.

As we speak, an institution with twice the market cap of Ethereum has 50K highly paid engineers working around the clock to ensure it doesn’t become a reality.
3/ Zuck has publicly stated on multiple occasions that Facebook’s “overarching goal” is to “bring the metaverse to life”.

And they have laid out a crystal clear plan for how they will do it.
