Many people today have their goals blocked or frustrated by their own selves. You adopt a lifestyle that you are very sure is fake, yet you dream of achieving something genuine out of it. How is that possible?
It is a common thing today to see people that cannot live genuine lives even though they don't find the fake life funny. We all want to do what others do, even though we are not the same; we do not earn the same, not are we of the same background. At the end, truth takes over.
I remember after our graduation from university, I had a cousin in Zaria who also graduated from ABU Zaria & was not ready to do any "menial job" at that time. Since he read accounting, he felt that he must be gainfully employed. In fact, he'd mention the places he must work.
Meanwhile, he didn't earn a good degree, neither was his father rich nor 'highly' placed in govt, high enough to pick him & drop in a lucrative office. All things are at odd for him really, not agreeing with reality, yet he fails to understand. He'd bath in the evening, go out
to meet his rich friends, gist & drive around town, come home with high hopes. At the same time, he had a friend that read same course & live very close to our family house in Kusfa Zaria. This guy almost made a first class, although he lost his father when he was just 8, & was
trained by a struggling mother. My cousin's friend who later became my very good friend understands the reality of life, & therefore immediately after NYSC, he'd go into menial jobs to earn a living while hoping for something better to come. He'd go for painting, interlocking,
buying & selling and so on, just to make ends meet. My cousin once mocked him softly, and before he even responded, I was the one that did my cousin, hardly. I told him why his friend won't wait for someone to give him N500 to buy recharge card, something my cousin always do.
May be for those of you born with silver spoons, doing some jobs is low. But for us from humble backgrounds, some of us born with copper spoons while some without even spoons at all, as long as the work is legitimate, we don't see it as low. Also, the degrees we hold won't make
us feel too big to do those jobs. Alhamdulillah, it has saved us a lot of our honor. It has saved us from the humiliation of having to beg people when we actually can do little to manage our situations. Let us learn to appreciate who we are. Let us make good use of our selves.
You'd be saving to buy a phone of N500K just so you impress the society, when in reality you can't afford a phone of N50K, if you'd live reality. Some of us today can't do this POS business even though we are jobless. Some of us can't be Uber drivers, even though we are jobless.
Some of us can't be delivery men, even though we are jobless. We want to live the kind of life lived by people who earn N1M monthly and above when we don't have any source of income. Common brothers! Let us see our realities & work with it. This life is easy, live is easily.
Today, that my cousin's friend has a PhD & is working with a big ministry, earning big. My cousin isn't doing bad too, but he has not gotten quarter of what his friend has. What is meant to be ours will be. Let us not fake what may come to be real, or may never.
Just a piece.

Sometimes, out of ignorance, people think that standing before a leader in public & either enjoining him to do good or forbid him from doing evil is a sign of heroism. To worsen the situation, activists full of ignorance of the religion think religion is activism.
Islamic scholars are learned people. Allah Has given them the best of knowledge that you can't pick on the streets. Thus, they use that knowledge as a guide, even though they are human & they make mistakes, yet they're obviously better than those who lack the knowledge/guidance.
Sa’id ibn Jubayr reported: I asked Ibn Abbas (RA), “Shall I enjoin good and forbid evil upon the ruler?”
Ibn Abbas said:
If you must do so, then do it between you and him privately.
Do you still start your day with social media before you recite the Qur'an? Are you in the habit of picking your phone first & browsing through messages before you even pray Fajr, make morning Azkar & recite the Glorious Qur’an?
Change the habit. Let the most important things
come first. Those that are less important can come later.
Do you know that the fastest way to receive Allah's Rahma is via the recitation of the Quran?
Imam al-Laithi (RH) was reported to have said:
There's nobody who receives blessing faster than one listening the Quran.
He then said: This is just a listener. What do you think about the person reciting it? And what about that person who has even memorized it? Then think about the blessings received by the one pondering over its meanings, then also think about he who put the teachings into work.
Immediately after NYSC, just before I picked my first Job, I asked my Dad to loan me N1, 000,000 to start business of buying & selling grains from Udawa Market to Buruku, to Birnin Gwari weekly markets. He was surprised that I could think in that direction. He gave me the money.
I made a second class upper degree in Petroleum Engineering, & among the top 4 in my class. Yet, I decided to look for a way to take my responsibility off the shoulders of my parent whom have trained me tirelessly from Nursery to 1st degree. I started the business as planned.
Five weeks later, I got my first job & decided to give him back his money. He didn't collect anything from me, & that became a gift from he, & a show of appreciation for my initiative. I later used that money to get married 😁.
The same manner Allah would question us about our Salat, Fasting & other dealings of worship, so He would question us about the rights our wives have over us.
Her rights to feeding, right to companionship, rights to accommodation, right to sexual satisfaction,
rights to education, rights to happiness, & any other right.
It is possible that someone would scale through in the aspects of his Salat, Fasting, Hajj but go to hellfire if he fails to satisfy the rights of the wife. Do you remember the Hadith of Al-Muflis (The Bankrupt?)
Imam Muslim narrated via the way of Abu Hurayra “that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said:
‘Do you know who the muflis (bankrupt) is?’ They said: ‘The muflis among us is the one without a dirham (or money).’
