Let me review the pattern of behaviour for every scandal the UCP has been involved in over the past 3 years. It seems the public has a poor memory or doesn’t recognize a clear pattern of behaviour.

So I will demonstrate UCP’s method to quell public outrage.

It’s really quite simple.

Most of the time Kenney, as premier, denies any wrongdoing or corruption or crime has been committed.

Sometimes that is enough. Perhaps other issues are distracting from the issue identified as “requiring handling”.

When a particularly angry public won’t stop opining negatively about an issue, Kenney slips into compliant premier mode.

He never actually admits wrongdoing, but he will throw anyone else, including the CMOH, Ministers or friends under the bus. He accepts his lumps.

Acts like a contrite politician should and apologizes for the gaff by one of his minions. Bad little minion.

Then he waits a few weeks and goes back to doing whatever he wants.

The public falls for it every time.

I don’t blame the public. Kenney says it’s being investigated, studied, reassessed. That dispels the public’s rage for the moment.

But like any other time you get very angry, holding onto that anger for an extended period of time is impossible.

Your body isn’t able to stay angry for that long. Weeks of experiencing rage and animus is extremely wearing on your mental health and your body, due to hormones that accompany rage responses.

So you calm down. You’re disappointment and frustration with the situation remains.

But your rage dissipates to the level of grievance. You no longer want heads on stakes, you’re more likely to respond to contrition and move on. Besides, there have been 10-12 different scandals since the issue that made you react in anger and demand resignations or changes.

Coal mining, Great Barrington response in 4th wave, Kenney disappearing & no one left in charge, Hawaii Christmas vacations, coordinating Covid mitigation with CPC O’Toole, cuts to healthcare during a pandemic, refusal to protect school kids, best summer ever.

Every one of those scandals Kenney has apologized for someone else’s mistakes, ordered an investigation, then went back to doing the exact same behaviour a few weeks down the road. It’s his signature move to address scandal. Offer fake contrition, delay, reduce the rage.

Then return to whatever egregious activity he and his minions are performing.

Not once has he or UCP been held responsible. Not once has the public’s outrage some anything but delay the action.

It works every time.

Status quo is resumed. Kenney avoids accountability. He Carrie’s on as if nothing happened.

Coal is still being extracted. Many people have died because “Covid is done - get over it”.

Kenney didn’t hand out consequences for Hawaii because he did the exact same behaviour this past summer (2021). Disappeared without a replacement or informing the public; in the middle of a severe Delta Covid outbreak.

While many refer to Kenney as an idiot, he’s far from it. He’s manipulative and knows how to coerce the public to “cut him a break”. Over and over again.

I’m not falling for it. Which is why I’m in a foul mood all the time lately. But everyone else does.

Most don’t even recognize the pattern.

There are loads of people who believe Kenney will be fired come the leadership review. I shake my head that the public is so gullible and foolish.

Kenney delayed any assessment of his leadership to give people loads of time to calm down.

Brian Jean isn’t a daily mention anymore, the rage people felt about Kenney’s disappearance for 3 weeks has dissipated. People are worried about surviving omicron. Are you even still angry about Delta Covid management? Nope. It’s the same as Omicron & obedience is our response.

Analysts recognize patterns in behaviour. I’ve watched Kenney for about 10 years. I’m quite familiar with his idiosyncrasies and habits. He’s really not that complicated and he uses time tested methods. He’s not stupid. He’s sadistic, calculated , manipulative and in power.

He’s a dangerous man. He knows what he’s doing and he’s quite good at it.

You may despise him and his ideology, but by no means has the public held Kenney to task for any of his corrupt and criminal decisions.

He fired the elections investigator investigating him, he has evaded every question of his authority. He protected Shandro’s driveway outburst and his conflict of interest. He’s taken money from the public to use as his personal publicity machine to the tune of $30M/year.

We are gutless as a public. The public is supposed to hold the balance of power in a democracy. And Kenney knows it. He knows how to calm people down when an egregious scandal like the Justice Minister interfering with administration of law occurs.

Behaviour like that is inexcusable.

It doesn’t matter if Madu made explicit threats. The phone call to the Edmonton Chief of Police is an act of intimidation in itself. That’s what the common authoritarian regimes do to intimidate police chiefs. They don’t need to be explicit.

It’s the audacity of the phone call itself. It implies an imbalance of power. It’s the powerful reminding the less powerful who is in control. It’s a warning. Never let it happen again. Madu shouldn’t be just fired from UCP, he should be removed from the legislature.

That’s how bad this behaviour is.

It’s very similar in nature to Trump’s first impeachment when he asked for help from the new Ukrainian President Zelinsky to provide dirt on Biden. Trump never explicitly spelled it out. That’s how mobs operate.

Madu was acting like a mob boss reminding his loyal minion who’s in charge.

Not once has anyone mentioned that the Police Chief didn’t make this public when he received a call from Madu.

Where the call for his resignation for keeping such an egregious infraction quiet?

Why isn’t he being asked to resign. Because he got the message. Don’t ever let this happen again. Madu can easily afford a $300 ticket.

The level of corruption has now reached the level when lateral and horizontal corruption is firmly in place.

God help us.

Don’t let Kenney assuage your shock & anger about Alberta being a banana republic. This is a clarion bell warning. We no longer live in a democracy when Ministers call law enforcement when they’re caught breaking the law.

Madu must’ve removed immediately. He’s already confessed.
