THREAD - Kaycee Madu had received a traffic ticket and he subsequently called Edmonton Police Chief Dale McFee to discuss the ticket. Both Kaycee Madu and Chief McFee confirmed the conversation took place.
There’s nothing to investigate. Kaycee Madu must step down. 1/4 #ableg
Stepping back is not the same as stepping down. Political Interference in the criminal justice system warrants resignation. Kaycee Madu must resign or be removed. He cannot be on leave of absence or a paid vacation. He cannot sit in Cabinet without a portfolio. 2/4 #ableg
Media reports suggest that cabinet ministers have been aware of the phone call for months. Premier Kenney must come clean with Albertans about his knowledge of Madu’s blatant political interference in Alberta’s justice system. He must explain what he knew and when? 3/4 #ableg
Premier Kenney must state for the record when he and his cabinet were first informed of Madu’s actions. Albertans have had enough of UCP hypocrisy, UCP arrogance, and UCP entitlement. Albertans deserve better and Jason Kenney should explain why they’re not getting it. 4/4 #ableg

THREAD - Minister Kaycee Madu must resign. It is wholly unacceptable for the Attorney General to engage with senior law enforcement regarding a penalty levied against him. 1/4
It is striking that this same minister is in the process of removing Albertans’ ability to challenge traffic tickets without producing $150 with a week’s notice. Regular Alberta drivers do not have the ability to call their police chief and discuss traffic tickets. 2/4 #ableg
Madu used his position as minister to initiate this conversation, and regardless of whether he asked the chief to cancel the ticket, it is political interference for him to have discussed it all. There is a long-standing precedent that prohibits this kind of behaviour. 3/4 #ableg
Just 50 days ago, Premier Jason Kenney made a $7.5B financial commitment to TC Energy for building the KXL pipeline. In his words, it was a "bold move".
It was likely the single biggest financial decision ever made on behalf of Alberta's taxpayers. /THREAD
And in another bold move, Premier Kenney refused to divulge the details of the deal.
As Albertans know well, the economics work for major pipeline linking our energy sector to the world. Once built, these projects have proven to be excellent investments. 2/
