No matter how good people say the economy is, some people still don't feel it. No matter how much improved conditions are with the pandemic, it's still here. No matter how much gets done, big major important stuff is still getting blocked.
But no matter how bad things are they're still light years better under Biden and the democrats. Every now and then it's important to stop all of the whining, fighting, accusations and BE and look at what we have, and where we are.
We know who and what republicans are. They have no agenda, plan or goals. McQonnell couldn't even answer the question when asked. So while we know that there's a high hill to climb due to voter nullification, the one thing that we can't do is give up and make it easy for them.
We can't and won't give republicans a damn thing without a fight. Our intramural fights are of course what we do, but no matter how importa, we can't let internal family fights obscure what we need to do. We have to solve our problems but can't get distracted from the real goal.
Yes, it's true that some people are unhappy with the current state of affairs. But consider this: If you don't like what's going on with our current leadership, think about our children. Is a future of Trumpism, chaos and violence what we want or need to leave for them?
It boils down to this: Democracy is at stake. There's almost nothing that Biden and the democrats can do that will be as bad as or worse than Trump and the republicans. Get get exactly one shot to save and fix it. Failure is not an option.
So we have to get out act together and do what we need to do, whatever it takes.
...[We] get exactly...

I deeply appreciate @NicolleDWallace's segment with Col. Vindman and Amb. McFaul concerning the potential Russian invasion of Ukraine. However, it was bone chilling.

No, it was frightening.
There is an arrogance and narcissism in this country where we often can't see the rest of the world because we can't see past ourselves. We often behave like the people who act like reading text messages is far more important than paying attention to the car we're driving.
But every now and then need to look up pay attention and remember there's more to the world than just us. Some so-called experts and analysts want to dissect and micromanage the administration's policies and approaches seemingly for fixing blame instead of fixing problems.

A couple of days ago, I saw a tweet suggesting that it's past time to put Harriet Tubman on the twenty-dollar bill. One response said that there are more important things to be done right now. I had to stop and think about that for a moment.

Really?
It's true that placing her on the bill isn't an exigent matter of life or death. It's not even a major policy item. But when you consider that people are still enraged about the racist image of the confederate flag being paraded through the Capitol during the insurrection...
...yet folks carry racist slavers around in their pocketbooks and wallets every day of their lives and never give it a second thought, there is a problem. There's a serious disconnect between the fight we think we're fighting, and what many of us truly understand the fight to be.

I'm thoroughly disgusted with the woman who was on @JoyAnnReid's show explaining why she didn't need to be vaxxed because she already contracted #COVID19 TWICE as if somehow it's all about her. Not only were her statements humiliatingly stupid, much of it was factually wrong.
And she lied by inferring that the vaccine didn't prevent infection: It was never purported to do so at any time. But what it does do is minimize serious illness and death, it helps to reduce the spread of the virus.
The reduction of spread not only keeps other people including health care workers safe, it slows the creation of mutations. That's the ONLY thing that will keep even her safe in the future.

I think it's safe to say that it's completely unreasonable for anyone to continue to presume that people who showed up at the Capitol on 1/6 didn't understand why they were there and didn't expect it to get violent. It was billed that way from the start. That was the entire goal.
There's no way they couldn't have known as the violent intent was clear for weeks in social media where it was advertised. Pretending otherwise is as silly as going to a sale, but not expecting a sale upon arrival. So as a nation, it pisses me off when folks propose otherwise.
Anyone who defends than position is a tool for gaslighting and propaganda, perpetuates lies, propagates the Big Lie, and is helping to rewrite history regardless of their political beliefs.

A GA state senator was arrested for knocking on the governor's office door because she tried to witness a law law signing to which other legislators were invited. The vast majority of DC Capitol rioters were never arrested. She's black; the others are white.

This is America.
There will always be unrest as long as there is no accountability, because when people aren't punished for the crimes they commit, they tend to do it again. Many who ARE punished still repeat the crimes because there's no incentive for them to do differently.
That's why recidivism is recidivism.

There will never be peace, let alone comity, in the US as long as people responsible for enforcing the law pretend that they can unsee what happened on 1/6.

The more I think about it, the more I believe that while the SCOTUS conservatives are socially ignorant, they're not stupid. They aren't epidemiologists, but they DO understand things when they're explained.

That's why I believe were virtue signalling to their MAGA public.
All of the ridiculous talk they put out yesterday about #VaccineMandates only makes sense when you consider the audience for whom it was intended. After all, they've made previous decisions about mask mandates just within the past few months that were totally coherent and sane.
The logic behind the antimasking arguments regarding colleges and universities was much the same as those behind the antivax mandates now. The arguments favoring masking were based on epidemiological and public health factors. The only thing different was the political audience.
