BARI WEISS:

“It’s a pandemic of bureaucracy! It’s not real anymore!”

COVID-19:

I KILLED FOUR THOUSAND AMERICANS *YESTERDAY*
PS/ It’s hard to fully underscore how nonsensical what she’s saying is. Yes—we discovered that cloth masks aren’t as effective as had once been hoped. So what the hell do you take from that? When we mask up, we need to wear N95 masks. What does she take from it? No masks anymore!
PS2/ She lies in saying we were told getting vaccinated would preclude infection. No—we were told vaccination would lead to less serious illness. That’s *just* what happened. So what should we do? Get vaccinated and boosted! What does she think we should do? Nothing, apparently!
PS3/ The whole premise of her cheap, tawdry little rant is that she’s a moron who doesn't understand how public health works. The simple fact is that public health officials always give the best info that they have at the moment, but that info *definitionally* changes day to day.
PS4/ Yes, *many* people are depressed. I’m so sorry, Bari, that a pandemic that’s infected 75 million Americans with a deadly virus and killed 1.3 million of them—with undercount—in 21 months is *depressing* you! God forbid a global disaster not *amuse* you and your NYC friends!
PS5/ What the audience in LA was applauding—for Clay Travis’s information—was the sense of being *exhausted* by the pandemic. Because we *all* are. They were *not* applauding arrogant non-expert Bari Weiss’s idea of how to deal with a pandemic—which would cost *10,000 lives/day*.
PS6/ There’s a *reason* almost every other country on Earth goes into a state of emergency when it has an outbreak even 1/100 of what the United States has had for months now—and it’s certainly not because they’re less badass than we are, Bari, or less exhausted by the pandemic.
PS7/ Most countries simply have a lower tolerance for *piles of dead people* than Bari. They have a lower tolerance for 50% of the infected getting Long Covid—putting permanent strain on their healthcare system. They worry about the unknown long-term effects of Covid on children.
PS8/ Most countries know, as Bari—who has *no expertise in anything* except how to bilk money out of credulous conservatives—*doesn’t*, that when you let a deadly virus run rampant in your country you raise the odds substantially of a variant that’s more deadly and transmissible.
PS9/ And even here in america, anyone who reads major media understands that right now the actual COVID-19 death toll here is 54% higher than the reported tally, according to research on the undercount. And the number of infected may be *double* the already shocking tally we see.
PS10/ So excuse me for finding Bari Weiss’s sudden concern about a slight uptick in suicides absolutely *ghoulish*, as it’s entirely fake and performative and certainly mathematically preposterous: the increase is *subsumed* under the *literal daily tsunami* of new COVID-19 dead.
PS11/ But understand, too, that when you hear Weiss talk about the state of the pandemic—which she clearly doesn’t understand—what she’s advocating is a state of affairs in which *twice* as many die daily, and *twice* as many are infected, and our healthcare system *collapses*.
PS12/ If America were as badass as far-right demagogues like Weiss claim it is, we’d all have *voluntarily* withdrawn from unnecessary public interactions for 4 weeks back in April 2020—which would have killed this thing in the crib as it more or less did in 100+ other countries.
PS13/ I’m sickened by Maher bringing Weiss on to parade her stupidity, arrogance, cowardice and privilege before a country that needs the *bravery* to acknowledge it f*cked up the pandemic in the *opposite* way from what she says. She’s not speaking truth—she’s coddling *babies*.
PS14/ America’s the laughing-stock of the planet in how it’s handled the pandemic because people like Bari Weiss are so f*cking *soft* they can't imagine sacrificing for the greater good or acknowledging that life will have to be tough for a while. She's a privileged little sh*t.
PS15/ Other than that I don’t have any opinion on these far-right snowflakes.
NOTE/ If the smartest person Bill Maher can get on his show is *Bari Weiss*, he needs to pull the plug on his whole operation.
NOTE2/ And yes, I know even acknowledging that Bari Weiss *exists* just helps her print more money on the backs of far-right morons. I don’t care. Her ignorance and arrogance has already made her a multimillionaire—nothing anyone says will change that. She needs to be called out.
NOTE3/ I apologize for the strong language. Regular readers know that I do not swear often here. But *4,000* Americans died of a virus we have a vaccine for on the *very night* that this person issued her privileged little HBO rant. I’m so angry and so bitterly sad for all of us.

Understand that Willard Hotel war room participant Boris Epshteyn *didn’t* tweet—97 minutes after the January 6 insurrectionists first breached the USCP perimeter—that rioters should leave the Capitol. He merely said they should stay *peaceful*.

Team Trump needed them to *stay*. Image
PROOF research confirms it was widely understood that Stop the Steal intended to occupy the Capitol—and that it was this occupation that Trump needed. He didn’t need violence; he was indifferent to that. He needed an *occupation*. Next time @AriMelber will get the question right.
The key is to never ask any of the coup plotters about violence. It is not legally required for them to be charged and they will indignantly claim to have known nothing about it in advance. That may or may not be true, but it is beside the point. They knew about the *occupation*.

I never worked a terrorism case but this sounds like a terroristic threat? Can anyone with expertise in this chime in? She uses the future tense, gives a time and place, says she'll be armed, indicates what her political goal is...I mean I'm not saying I know—I'm honestly asking.
(PS) She also says her weapons will not just be "loaded" but "ready [to be fired]." I'm *pretty* sure law enforcement needs to make contact with her ASAP if they haven't already. Anyway, I'm tweeting this out to see if I'm missing something, and if not to give it more attention.
(PS2) Um, I'm sorry, but, in response to the article below... just *no*. I don't think you can say what this person said; have the school board *go your way* (negating your threat); and then apologize and have it be okay. This needs to be looked into ASAP. whsv.com/2022/01/21/off…

This is so short-sighted on the part of MLB. I agree with the Rays that the “sister city” idea—a defiantly metamodern one—is likely to be the future of professional sports. But we may be a few decades off from that, and no one really expects MLB to be a trailblazer in *anything*.
IOW the internet has changed our notion of space/time irretrievably. In a way we never did before, we understand that two seemingly contradictory concepts can occupy the same space. I think it’ll ultimately be seen as a “throwback” to view sports teams as tied to *only* one city.
Consider: if a pro sports team played just *one game* in your city of 100,000 each year—but *without fail*—don't you think your city would start to think of that team as being “yours” as well as others’? Suddenly fandom is disseminated/diffused in a way that elevates *everybody*.

(🔐) ICYMI: The new PROOF report on Sen. Chuck Grassley has gone viral.

It contains info on Grassley’s role in the events of Insurrection Eve that most Americans haven’t seen.

“The Coming Collapse of Trump’s January 6 Conspiracy, Part 4: Chuck Grassley”: sethabramson.substack.com/p/new-the-comi…
(PS) Right now I’m working on a shocking follow-up to this article. By “shocking” I mean that it’s literally full of things that I didn’t previously know and am shocked by. Its focus will be not just on Grassley and—critically—his staff, but also on Clarence Thomas’s wife Ginni.
(PS2) I want to add how thrilled I am at how large the PROOF community is getting. The comment sections are so vibrant—with new leads offered and great comments like this: “Grassley’s statement could’ve been the exact reason Pence didn’t get in the Secret Service car [on 1/6].”
