The Cincinnati Bengals had a 2-14 record in 2019. Two years ago.
The San Francisco 49ers had a 4-12 record in 2018.
The Los Angeles Rams had a 4-12 record in 2016.
The Kansas City Chiefs went 2-14 in 2012.
And now they’re all playing in their Conference Championships.

The NFL is designed so that terrible teams don’t stay terrible forever and so that great teams eventually fall from the top.
Which makes it seem unusual when teams never seem to dramatically improve. Even over the course of decades.

All of these teams and a lot of other franchises have seen a lot of change over the course of the last decade. Hired visionary coaches and General Managers. Drafted or brought in franchise quarterbacks. Have numerous players who are All-Pros or in the Pro Bowl.
But for teams like @WashingtonNFL, a lot of things change while at same time nothing changes. The names change. Even the name of the team. But the overall organization doesn’t, at least not at the top. And neither, really, do the results.
