Sr. Adv. Salman Khurshid appears for Chawla: She would be very happy to help the Legal Services Authority.
Member Secretary: She is a very amiable person, we would be happy to have her as our ambassador, the way she worked in Hum Hai Rahi Pyar Ke with children!
Khurshid: This just goes on to show the inadequacy of my advocacy.
DHC: And also that Mr. Arora is a big fan of hers.
Chawla has joined the hearing and apologizes for the poor connection due to which she could not join earlier.
DHC: We understand that you moved the suit in good faith, however, the applications filed, your seeking exemption from the fees etc, that didn't go down well with the Court.
Juhi Chawla: I thank the for reducing the cost substantially and gracefully accept its decision. However, I need to point out the harmful effects of #5G - both for my family and the environment.
Chawla: It is a fact that there are known and unknown harmful effects of #5G.
She cites her work in this regard.
Chawla: My background actions have been ignored.
#JuhiChawla: It would have been very heartening if the cost was struck down entirely, as I believe I have done no wrong.
#JuhiChawla: The court is right, that the main issue has been sidetracked. I also request that the observations against me may be expunged, as I have not taken the issue up for "publicity".
DHC accepts that she has been known to be involved in social and environmental causes.
DHC: It does not appear that she took up the issue for publicity or that the suit was filed frivolously.
DHC: It appears to us that the plaintiffs themselves who do not seem to come from a legal background may not have been shared the consequences of the manner in which the suit had been drafted.
DHC: The learned Single Judge was also disturbed by the fact that the link to the proceedings was shared on social media by Ms. Chawla, leading to the proceedings before him being disrupted.
DHC: We are of the view that the impugned order is liable to be modified, we direct for the remarks to be expunged. We reduce the costs to Rs. 2 lakhs.
DHC: Ms. Chawla has said she would be happy to volunteer with Delhi State Legal Services Authority, in whose favour the costs were imposed, to work with marginalized children and women in need of legal help with DSLSA.
The Member Secretary, Kanwaljeet Arora, has accepted Chawla's proposal.
Arora: We may be allowed to contact Ms. Chawla's for the work.
DHC: Yes, Ms. Chawla we assure you your privacy will not be infringed.
Arora assures Chawla that she would like the work.
DHC: This may be a good outlet for your desire to do good work for the public. Infact, this may just have been a way for you to come to DSLSA.
Juhi Chawla: Yes, the Universe has its ways!
