🇨🇦🚔🛩️ With the Ontario Provincial Police #OPP circling the anti-vax rally today, I figured I should make a thread about what we can tease out of the behaviour of their surveillance Cessna, and if any of that can be applied to other aircraft in the fleet. 🧵

First, consult the Canadian Civil Aircraft Register (CCAR), and search using the name the OPP has their aircraft registered under:

"Province Of Ontario, Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services"

Now you have a list of all their aircraft. 👍

Pop that in a spreadsheet for later, and use the registration numbers to hand-roll a search for the aircraft using #ADSBexchange.

#ADSBexchange will convert the registration numbers using its database, and look up the plane's Mode-S transponder number which was assigned when the plane was registered.

🇨🇦🚔🛩️ #OPP Pilatus PC-12 C-FOPD #C02682 looks like it's used for personnel and prisoner transport, not surveillance, by their flight patterns.

🇨🇦🚔🛩️ #OPP Cessna T206H C-GOXY #C06C0F is their surveillance aircraft, used for traffic enforcement as well as other tasks. This is the aircraft that's been active over #Ottawa today and yesterday.

NB: The Canadian Access to Information and Privacy Act (ATIP is Canada's FOIA), isn't just about text documents we can compell them to give up, it applies to all media. Journalists should request yesterday's video from OPP's C-GOXY surveillance plane before it's destroyed.

It's a brisk Sunday for a Cessna flight over downtown Ottawa, but the #OPP took off from #CYOW and are now patrolling #Ottawa from the sky.

If you're in #Ottawa, are bored, and have a photography hobby, now is a great time to point your lens skyward and see what kind of sensor package the #OPP are collecting information with from their Cessna. Are they listening to your cell phone? Just a live video feed? Cool. 🕵️‍♂️🚔

They're the white(?) w/ decal Cessna at 3500' circling and circling and circling...

There is no way you wouldn't notice if you were downtown and outside.

I think they landed in #Arnprior a half hour ago, presumably to refuel, get a bite to eat, and use their facilities.

🇨🇦🚔🛩️ #OPP Cessna T206H C-GOXY #C06C0F was over Ottawa (and region) from ~10am-3pm local on 2022-01-30.

There has been no aerial surveillance performed at night. Come to think of it, I don't know if the OPP is licensed to fly that thing at night. 🙄

So far, nothing today, but they're probably still having their coffee.

FYI, There haven't been any #RCMP surveillance aircraft, which suggests they're not treating the #FluTruxKlan as a group of radicalized right-wing extremists, whose manifesto stated their goal was to overthrow the gov't, and the Ottawa Police seem afraid to confront. Great job.

The part-time #OPP surveillance plane that kicks off at 3pm on a Sunday also shows you how seriously the Ontario Provincial Police treat the situation. 👏

I can't really blame them, they'll wear out their 2008 Cessna if they fly it too much. /s

Anyone have a telephoto lens and want to see the sensors that are being used on the #OPP surveillance plane orbiting downtown #Ottawa? Watch the watchers? The last photos showed an electro-optical sensor under the left wing. Any new antennas? ~3500ft
