America is in a reading crisis.

New data on book reading shows that reading is on the decline.

Here are 12 scary stats that we need to stop:
A recent report from Gallup found that every category of readers are reading less: men, women, college graduates, non-college graduates, old people, and young people.

Americans are reading 3 fewer books per year.

Down from 15.2 books a year to 12.6.
College graduates read an average of about 6 fewer books in 2021, falling from 21.1 books to 14.6.

The average U.S. woman read about 4 fewer books, down from 19.3 to 15.7 books.

Americans aged 55+ read almost 5 fewer books, down from 16.7 to 12.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Readers:
1/ Schedule Reading

Effective readers don't hope they'll have time to read, they MAKE time to read.

They schedule time in their day to read a book just like how they schedule a time to have a meeting with a coworker or workout session with a trainer.
2/ Ask Questions

Effective readers view books as a discussion with the author, not a lecture.

They listen to what the author has to say but then ask questions such as:

-Are their sources reliable?
-Is this information up to date?
-Are these lessons backed by science?

A simple tip to DOUBLE the number of books you'll read this year:
This tip is called have a Snack & Meal book. 🍎🍽️

Here's how it works:

Think about your food appetite for a second...
Sometimes, you're super hungry or have lots of time and want a big meal to fill you up (like steak and potatoes).

Other times, you're only slightly hungry or short on time and want something small to snack on (like an apple).

Your reading appetite should work the same way...

Writing a book can be hard.

But it doesn't have to be.

Here are 10 writing tips from "How To Write A Book" by bestselling author @kadavy:
1/

"Writing does not always have to be hard, and it gets exponentially easier. The more you write, the easier it gets."
2/

"Turn your writing into a habit. Find a ten-minute window each day where you'll have the best chance of completing your habit."
