BREAKING: Madras High Court orders transfer of Thanjavur student death case to CBI. #thanjavurcase#Lavanya
"For fair investigation, it must be transferred to CBI as in 2006, there was another case of a girl Sukanya declared as suicide. After an investigation in 2010, it came to light that she was gang-raped," said the petitioner. @whattalawyer reports. lawbeat.in/top-stories/br…
“When learned Senior Counsel asserted that he does not believe in conversion, I knew that he was speaking from his heart. But the question is whether Sister Saghayamary & Sister Rachel Mary are made of same fibre. I hope investigation by CBI will bring out the truth” #Lavanya
Court has posthumous duty to render #JusticeForLavanya says Madras HC, adds that the Home Minister of the State has eloquently taken a certain stand and investigation cannot thus carry out by State Police
I fail to understand as to why the Thanjavur Superintendent of Police reacted as if she had come in contact with a live electric wire (to brush aside allegation of conversion). After all an allegation has been made that there was an attempt to convert: Madras HC #Lavanya
There is nothing inherently improbable in the allegation
that there was an attempt at conversion: Madras High Court says as it draws similarities from movies and pop culture to show that attempts to convert by are a possibility #Lavanya
Some states have passed legislation to ban Forcible conversions & it was challenged in SC but counsel Mr Frank Anthony had argued that Article 25(1) includes right to convert : Madras HC indicates attempt of forceful conversion highly possible but State police brushed it aside
Justice Swaminathan says many areas in Tamil Nadu have anglicised names. He has discussed a myriad of issues in this light to insinuate the likelihood of attempted conversions & slams Police for ruling out the angle #CBIForLavanya
Madras High Court says that the SP police should have goaded the conversion angle but she threatened the person who shot the video which is actually a dying declaration of the child. #CBIForLavanya#MadrasHighCourt

Kerala High Court recently dismissed a woman's appeal against #divorce decree noting that the #husband had been able to prove that he was treated with such cruelty that he had feared for his life.
The woman had alleged that she had been forced to leave her marital home, however, the husband had contended that on the contrary, she had deserted him as she had mental issues and used to exhibit excessive anger since the inception of marriage.
The husband had also alleged that she even used to threaten to kill him during his sleep. He had said that when he asked her to take treatment for her mental issues, she always denied pursuing proper medication.
The couple's daughters had also testified against their mother.
