If you think I was angry before...
Award-winning historian @drphillips2001 has been fired by @collincollege for speaking up on COVID safety, confederate monuments, and...protecting First Amendment rights of profs. (shared with permission) #twitterstorians#highered#journalists
If you have a radio show, a TV show, a podcast, I am BEGGING you -- please cover this story. Less than one week after accepting a judgment against them in MY lawsuit over first amendment rights, @collincollege fired a beloved professor for exercising his First Amendment rights.
it seems to me that @collincollege leadership is part of a criminal enterprise. Professors' public critiques have raised the possibility of scrutiny, and the college is obviously trying to chill the speech of faculty lest malfeasance and/or misdeeds be fully exposed.
.@collincollege leadership shamelessly LIED to reporters who asked why it had surrendered in my lawsuit. they said they wanted to be fiscally responsible. then they turned around and wrongfully fired ANOTHER professor, opening themsevles to the same liability as before.
If you voiced support for me in my defense of First Amendment rights for faculty, I am BEGGING you to put your full support behind my dear colleague Michael Phillips @drphillips2001. @PENamerica@AAUP@AHAhistorians@TheFIREorg - fight this with everything in your arsenal
the leadership of @collincollege are conspiring and colluding to deprive citizens of their civil rights. Sue these fools under the Klan Act of 1871. Drag them to FILTH.
Please note, from Dr. Michael Phillips' Facebook page (shared with permission):
@collincollege administrators asked him to LIE about his dismissal and help "craft a narrative" of voluntary departure
they KNOW they are violating his rights and violating the law.
