The bigger issue here is that the FBI abused the public trust yet again by placing the husband of a top Washington Post editor into a top Bureau post.

As one tiny, belated step toward regaining the public trust, all FBI officials responsible for making Jonathan Lenzner its chief of staff, including Lenzner himself, should resign from the Bureau immediately.

"We have every confidence in [WaPo National Editor spouse of FBI chief of staff's] professionalism and high standards,” says Washington Post chief flack Kristine Coratti Kelly. “She has recused herself from this area of coverage to avoid even the appearance of partiality.”

What responsible journalist would ever believe it when a PR person expresses "every confidence" in a top official astride a colossal conflict-of-interest situation?

This is WaPo corporate flat-out lying about its own incestuous relations with the national security apparat.

It makes one wonder, again, what WaPo's owner is doing with all your private data.

1) What WaPo says about its national-editor-wife-of-FBI-chief-of-staff: "For the last four years, Matea has served as the national political enterprise and investigations editor, running some of The Post’s most sensitive stories, including coverage of the Russia investigation..."

2) "... the Ukraine pressure campaign and President Donald Trump’s attempt to subvert the 2020 election results ... Reporters and other editors gravitate to Matea for guidance and direction.”

Her husband, FBI chief of staff Jonathan Lenzner, ran Bill Clinton's "private CIA."

Paul Sperry, who broke this amazing story about the Clinton operative-turned-FBI-chief-of-staff who is married to the Washington Post national editor, has been suspended from Twitter for nearly a year.

FBI Chief of Staff Jonathan Lenzner "is the son of the late private investigator Terry Lenzner, who earned a reputation as President Clinton’s 'private CIA' for digging up dirt on Clinton’s mistresses and other enemies," Sperry reports. He took over his father's operation.

The elder Lenzner "helped squelch a series of what were internally known as 'bimbo eruptions' during the 1990s, reportedly with the approval of Hillary Clinton," Sperry reports.

What is FBI hiding? "The FBI did not release a press advisory announcing the major leadership change on the seventh floor of the Hoover Building, and did not name the firm Lenzner helmed in his bio posted on the bureau's 'Leadership & Structure' page of its website."

FBI won't answer inquiry about why Director Chris Wray hired a Clinton operative and Washington Post national editor spouse as chief of staff: "Asked for more details about Wray’s decision to hire Lenzner, the FBI declined comment and would only provide a link to the same bio."
