I'm starting a new working thread: Pulling together evidence and timelines for Bobby Dassey and his suspected accomplices, Gray Beard, Michael Osmunson and Scott Tadych.
(2) I'm going to start out by collecting evidence without trying to organize it. Then I will analyze it & give it structure.
I'll start w/this lead from Scott Tadych's brother Shaun, "Watch the movie again and watch how he [Scott] acts on the stand when he gets questioned...."
(3) Before we view the film, let's first go over the transcript of his testimony, that can be found here.
(4) On page 130 of the transcript, Scott Tadych testifies that he saw "a big fire" when he dropped Barb Janda off to get her car. He also points to the area of the Steven's burn pit on the map.
(5) On page 131, Scott testifies that he saw Steven Avery standing next to the fire, and that the flames from the fire were "almost as tall as the garage", "Eight, ten feet. I don't' know, ten feet maybe, ten feet tall the flames were."
(6) During Strang's cross (page 139) Scott is questioned about seeing Bobby Dassey on WI-147 after he visited his mother at the hospital, when he was leaving his trailer to go deer hunting around 3pm.
He claims, "He [Bobby] was slowing down to turn into my driveway."
(7) Strang crosses Scott (page 141) on his statements about "the big fire", which does not appear in his police statements. He also crosses him about why the time of the fire moved from 5 to 5:30pm to the later time when he returned with Barb.
Scott is solidly impeached.
(8) Strang goes on to impeach Scott's testimony about how the night was spent with Barb and whether she stayed over or drove home. There's also a question about the .22 rifle that Scott was selling at work.
Scott denies it.
(9) In summary, Scott Tadych:
- Places Steven Avery at the burn pit on Oct. 31st
- Tries to testify that the flames were 8-10' high
- Gives Bobby Dassey an afternoon alibi for the 31st
- Gives himself an alibi the evening of the 31st
- Denies trying to sell a .22 rifle at work
(10) Excerpts of Scott Tadych's testimony are included in Making a Murderer, S1 E6, with 13:18 left in the episode. It runs until the 9:02 remaining mark.
I'm assuming this is what Scott's brother is referring to, unless anyone knows of a better video.
(11) Tadych says "I saw a big fire", and uses a laser pointer on the 3D model and points directly at Steven Avery's burn pit.
(12) During the direct testimony Scott seems to keep his eyebrows raised most of the time. His demeanor is calm, and his expression is fairly blank.
In the picture of Scott at home, I don't notice the raised eyebrows and wrinkled forehead.
(13) Of the 4 basic postures involving the eyebrows and eyes, I believe Scott falls into the 4th category: Eyebrows raised and eyes in repose. This is the facial expression of submission.
This makes sense, because Scott is being submissive to Kratz.
(14) Scott occasionally turns to the jury, as if he's been coached to do so.
His expression softens a bit, but he still has his eyebrows raised and his eyes in repose.
(15) Scott's body language and expressions are a bit different during cross examination. He has a closed posture with his hands interwoven in front of him.
He does a lot of shaking of his head no, and there are a myriad of derisive and frustrated looks, not submission.
(16) For those of you who can, please watch the 4 minute excerpt of Scott's Testimony beginning with the screen capture below (S1 E6, 13:22 remaining), and we'll talk a bit later on the other side.
(17) If you watched Scott's testimony excerpt and the following one from Bobby Dassey's testimony you should have gotten to Jerry Buting's remark, "We had two people who alibied only themselves."
Of course he is referring to Scott and Bobby, the states' star witnesses.
(18) In the excerpt, Strang impeached Scott on three key points:
- the height of the fire (8-10' v. 3')
- the time he left his trailer (2:30-2:45 v. 3:15 pm)
- the attempt to sell a .22 to Jay Mathis at work
Strang made little of the third lie.
Pictures of Scott lying:
(19) In all three instances of Scott Tadych lying, he bent the truth to inculpate Steven Avery and deny his suspicious behavior.
Strang had a police report about the attempted .22 gun sale at work, but didn't introduce it. Why?
(20) Even more, Tadych provided a very suspicious alibi for our current prime suspect, Bobby Dassey.
(21) Why didn't Strang introduce page 725 of Calumet Sheriff's Office police report, which in which Jay Mathes claimed he was approached by Scott Tadych to buy a .22 rifle that belonged to one of Barbara's kids? stevenaverycase.org/wp-content/upl…
(22) Even more, why didn't Strang introduce page 726 of the CASO, where Jay Mathes was interviewed:
"JAY said about a week ago, SCOTT said he had a .22 Savage for sale that belonged to one of BARBARA's kids."
Note that there is only on barrel tube on the Savage, while there are two on the rifle in Bobby's room.
(25) Shaun Tadych may have been referring to a different set of videos when he says "watch the movie again". If anyone is aware of a longer video of Scott Tadych's testimony, please let me know.
We also know Scott lied, because he was impeached on cross.
(26) The Janda/Dassey residence was searched by police on 11/07/2005 and NO Savage 22 LR Rifle was found (see CASO pg 131-134).
Could a Savage rifle have been destroyed?
Could Scott have mistakenly called Bobby's Marlin a Savage?
(30) Further, Scott wouldn't have pulled out with a vehicle bearing down on him. The lane from the east had to be clear enough for him to pull out and make his left.
By the time he reached any vehicle in the oncoming lane, he would not have been that close to his driveway.
(31) The only ways for Scott to see Bobby slowing to turn right into his driveway was for Scott to be waiting to make a left or to be pulling out in front of him.
Either way, he wouldn't have described it as "I was going west, and he was going east".
(33) Shaun Tadych doesn't believe his brother, Scott, and neither do I.
- He lied about the size of the fire to inculpate Steven.
- He lied about the time he got home & about passing Bobby to give Bobby & himself alibis.
- He lied about the .22 rifle sale to avoid suspicion.
(34) What was that smirk that Scott Tadych displayed during the reading of Brendan Dassey's verdict?
No one could be happy that Brendan was found guilty, unless it provided some pay off for them. Even Bobby seems totally dejected.
(35) Help me identify addition topics to research on Scott Tadych. My current list includes:
1. Background offenses. 2. Family and Community ties. 3. Janda Courtship. 4. Timeline Oct. 31. 5. Timeline Oct. 31 through Now. 6. Property Status. 7. Phone call w/Barb & Steven.

(2) Witness who delivered papers saw Bobby and another unidentified older male pushing a dark blue RAV4 down Avery Road on the right side toward the junkyard.
(3) Bobby was shirtless, even though it was November.
Witness says second man was in 50's or 60's, had a long grey beard, wore a worn puffy jacket, larger frame, maybe 6' in height.
(1) The dust-free bullet fragment w/Teresa Halbach's planted DNA was found on top of white cement dust that did not exist in Steven Avery's garage until Law Enforcement (LE) generated it w/a jack hammer the night before. LE testified it was photographed exactly as they found it.
(2) Had the AirUp Tire Inflator and Sealer can found under the front passenger seat of Teresa Halbach's RAV4 been used?
(3) Apparent color varies with lighting and adjustments made during processing and editing.

(2) Well it took a long time, but I finally re-reviewed all the dog scent and alert data with the new knowledge I received from Jeff Young. The pandemic delayed me, but I was not deterred.
(3) I looked at each track under multiple working theories:
- Tracking or Air Trailing
- Teresa's Scent
- Freshest Scent Trail
- Contaminator of Scent Article/Carrier of Teresa's Scent
- Other training goal (drugs/human remains/explosives)
