Why you're probably paying too much in gas when minting NFTs, a quick thread

1/x

šŸ§µšŸ‘‡
The space is growing rapidly which catches a lot of attention. Anyone with an idea and some initial art can start growing a following for their project. After they've gained some traction they realize they need to actually find devs to build it

2/x
It's hard to find good #solidity devs in this space. It's already a constrained supply to begin with, and the good ones have the opportunity to start their own project or work with the best. Why would they build your happy duck sunshine club? One of two things happen:

3/x
1. These projects find devs writing their first smart contract. Solidity at face value seems very similar to Javascript, which a lot of devs are comfortable with, but requires one to think differently and prioritize gas constantly. This often leads to unoptimized code

4/x
2. The work is contracted out. There are groups of people offering to write smart contracts for a fee or %. They have a portfolio of past projects to refer to in order to increase legitimacy. The problem is their code is not optimized at all

5/x
It looks like their first ever smart contract. They are literally copy pasting the same unoptimized code for each new client, making slight edits. I've seen the familiar code templates, the same unoptimized code structured in the same way over and over

6/x
A handful of teams are responsible for wasting millions of dollars for the #NFTCommunity. It is almost unimaginable. Unassuming new projects and oblivious contractors together cause so much liquidity to be sucked out of the market straight into the hands of the miners

7/x
So what do we do? The community needs to keep these people responsible. We should be understanding the dev situation for teams. We should be asking how much gas mint will cost. We should heavily encourage projects to implement ERC721A

erc721a.org

8/x
We are supporting integration in the @AzukiZen #devs channel. @cygaar_dev has already made integration as easy as possible. We're all responsible in keeping teams accountable in order to prevent gas from stunting the growth of the NFT space

TLDR bad code = sad mode

The @AzukiZen collection will be revealed on Thursday 12pm noon PST.

Rare NFTs get sniped upon reveal by scripters. A quick thread about my thoughts going into the reveal around metadata.

TLDR; To not get sniped, DO NOT LIST until after reveal.

Part of the draw of NFTs is the nostalgic feelings reminiscent of opening a pack of Pokemon cards. We feel some of that magic has been lost as the NFT space has grown, and have strived to rediscover it with @AzukiZen
2/8
The metadata reveal is usually an exciting moment for any NFT collection. Everyone is discovering their NFTā€™s traits for the first time, followed by marketing activity and buzz. Unfortunately, metadata reveal usually results in rares getting sniped at a low price

How @AzukiZen is thinking about mintlist (ML), a thread (1/15)

It's been great to see the growing level of interest in Azuki over the past few weeks. The team is so glad to see that there are a lot of people who resonate with the vision and type of community we are trying...

to build. There have been some questions around the Mint List (ML) process and who is being selected which I'll clear up by providing more context in this post. These questions are understandable, as we have intentionally chosen not to disclose exactly how we are...

selecting people in an attempt to reward the members of the community who we want to build this brand together with long term. I thought it would be helpful to share some context around how we think about the ML, and what that may mean for all of you.
