most people's writing is boring, or too complicated.

here's 7 things that will make you a better writer.

Let's start with the most non-obvious tip:
#1 - look at what I did in the first tweet.

I created a "curiosity gap"

---> what are the 7 things?

...then I punched it up

"let's start with the least obvious one"

---> ooh, I wonder what it is

the goal of line #1 is to get you to line #2.

Practice curiosity gaps.
#2 - Copy other people

wanna learn music? Play covers of songs

wanna learn to cook? Use recipes

wanna learn to write? Start by HANDWRITING someone elses writing that you like.

It's called "copywork". It is the cure for writers block.

Do this or else...*dun dun dunnnn*
#3 - Write like you talk

see how I put a sound effect at the end of the last tweet? It's like I'm talking out loud.

Here's a tip.

if you don't know what to write, just start talking out loud.

Then write down what you said.

Then go back and delete the umms & extra words
#4 - Forget What You Learned In School

Schools reward you for:
- using big words
- and writing long essays ("minimum word count")

The real world is the opposite. Great writing is:
- simple words
- shorter the better
#5 - Write like a boss

Writing is a killer way to stand out inside a company.

Here's a simple format on how to write inside a company:

WHAT, WHY, SO WHAT?

eg.
WHAT happened?
WHY did it happen?
SO WHAT are we gonna do about it?

Those 3 = clear crisp communication
It works for stuff that happened AND for things that are coming up (eg. launching a new project)

WHAT are we going to do ?
WHY are we going to do it ?
SO WHAT do we need you to do?
#6 - EMOTION is the goal

Most people think writing is about transferring INFORMATION

but writing is actually about transferring EMOTION

Emotion gets people to take action (like, share, buy, etc.), not information.

Fear, Greed, Anger, Hope, Love, Certainty are your tools
#7 - Practice.

Ok this is the obvious one.

You get good at anything through practice & coaching.

You gotta get reps.

And if you want coaching, I teach a course called Power Writing (powerwritingcourse.com) a few times a year to go in detail on each one of these & more
not a bad sales letter eh?

I think ETH is undervalued by 4x - and here’s the math that shows why.
Usually when someone says “ETH is going to $10k!” its driven by:
- Hopes and dreams
- Clickbait
- Or weak logic (“if 1% of the world uses it..”)

But @ryanallis (crypto quant investor) came out w/ a discounted cashflow model that values ETH at $10k TODAY (trading at ~$2.6k)
Let me try to explain his model - in a way that doesn't require a PHD.

There are 3 key points:

if bitcoin is digital gold. DAOs are digital LLCs.

A DAO is like a crypto company, and can make $$$ with:

- no office
- no CEO
- no employees
- no job interviews

Here's 3 examples:
Let's say you're a designer.

You have extra time on your hands. You would love to make some extra $$.

You could:
1) start a freelance side hustle (make website, try to pitch for clients... too much work)

2) list yourself on upwork or fiverr (low pay)

3) ...what else?
Now there's a new option.

@VectorDAO - you can join a pool of designers.

Companies post "bounties" (design my app for $5,000 by X date)

Anyone in the group can form a small team ("bounty hunter", and do the project.

Contributors get paid in cash or tokens.

I just heard someone describe themselves as;

“Patient x Relentless”

That’s a killer combo. If you’re patient and relentless, you can’t lose.

Got me thinking what other killer crossbreeds I’ve seen…

Two traits that are rarely together..

Here’s the list I came up w/
2/ “Fierce + Nerd”

This comes from the @paulg blog post.

They are fiercely competitive in their niche.

Best example of someone I saw like this is @eshear . I would never want to compete with Emmett in something he cares about (eg. Twitch, a board game, a logical debate etc)
3/ “Intense + Silly”

Best example is @sulemanali

He brings level 12 intensity to anything he does. Whether it’s building a company or playing pickleball for the 1st time

But doesn’t take himself or life too seriously.

So he is successful, without stress & is fun to be around

👀 i spy someone making moves.

Here's the characters:
@joshbuckley - at one time I think he was the youngest YC founder ever?

He built a gaming company (Mino Monsters)

I remember walking w him. He checked his phone and just laughed. Showed me the screen w/ revenue $

me: "nice month!"
him: "that's just today"
Then he told me he started investing.

Investing? Aren't we both broke founders?

Apparently someone big had given him $$$ to play with.

He named some investments. Multiple $1B+ co's already.

He had level of confidence/self belief that is rare but obvious when you see it.

Holdup. There are only TWO teams competing at Nationals in the show Cheer!?

All that hype for "Nationals" and it's just 2 tiny schools competing against each other??

The worst you can do is 2nd place?!
Monica is portrayed as the cheerleading John Wooden.

14 championships.

but every year it's just a 50/50 coinflip to see if you get a championship or not?!
all that hype about "going to daytona"

They coulda just gone to a Kroger parking lot in texas and cheered against each other

smh

Going to a conference for Farmers 🐓🐷today.

Will tweet what I learn here:
So Kansas City isn’t in Kansas? Nobody else finds this fishy?
Almost miss my flight because I lost track of time eating a subway sandwich

Lady at the gate laughs and asks what I was thinking

I ask her if she’s ever had the turkey on Italian herbs and cheese

She nods. She understands
