It is a pure dead cat strategy, a strategy not uncoincidentally set out initially by Lynton Crosby, a man who, unlike Cummings likes to stay behind the scenes, and who was reportedly joining Johnson's team. Excuse me I just need to get some more string for my wall. 3/
Now obviously Crosby, known as "the Wizard of Oz" has said he was never consulted on this and is happy in his current job, and and has absolutely no form of allegedly working behind the scenes on campaigns which he has specifically said he isn't working on. 4/
But the dead cat theory has taken on a life of its own. Not only that, but it has succeeded in creating a "wedge issue", with, let's be brutally honest as we are spit balling here, some on the left using the allegations to also attack Starmer. 5/
This theory, as random and hypothetical as it is, hinges on Johnson's response. It could be the perfect "dead cat" or he could be hanging onto the end of the tail of the tiger and about to get bitten. Anyway, what do I know, but it is more plausible than Hope's at least. 6/
Just going to add that this theory worked better in my head before half of Downing Street upped and walked out making Johnson look even more like an inept fool unable to manage his own office, let alone a country.
