1/7: I’ve been hesitant to say anything about this, but since season 2 of @RaisingDion’s @netflix series just dropped this week, there's something I'd like to say for my own peace of mind. 🧵
2/7: Some background: Back in 2014-2015 I worked on a comic called #RaisingDion. It was the first full length comic I worked on professionally & was written by Dennis Liu. When the book (& short film/trailer) released, it got decent attention & in 2017 #Netflix greenlit a series.
3/7: When S1 released in 2019, I noticed that the opening credits stated: “based on the comic book by” but only had a credit for Dennis, the writer. This is the case for season 2 as well. Keep in mind, even today there is still only 1 issue of the #RaisingDion comic book.
4/7: Dennis wrote the script. I did all the art, letters, and vast majority of book layout/file prep for the 1 and only issue of the comic. With that in mind, it seems pretty odd that only Dennis is credited when the show states that it's “based on the comic book by” both of us.
5/7: Here are some image comparisons that I'd like to highlight between the #comicbook and (season 1) of the show. If you're wondering, yes, I also designed/composed (with fonts) the logo/title of the #RaisingDion comic.
6/7: Now, to be clear, I have nothing but congratulations for the cast and crew, and I encourage people to check out the show. I’m glad it exists and has 2 seasons. But I would have greatly appreciated, at the very least, being given a credit on the series. #RaisingDion@Netflix.
7/7: And before anyone asks, yes I had a contract but I’m not at liberty to share the details. Suffice it to say, I don’t think a byline is too much to ask for when the show is “based on the comic book” where I did all the art, and that book (with 1 issue) ended on a cliffhanger.

I watched #Shazam last night (somehow) for the first time, and of the DC films I've seen, it's my favorite by a mile! To be fair I still haven't seen Aquaman or Birds of Prey, but my guess is that Shazam will still be my favorite when I do. My (probably) luke warm takes, below 1/
I thought I'd like it but I didn't know I'd like it as much as i did. Setting it in Philly endears it to me even more! I adore Philadelphia, so when movies are set there it probably makes me like them a little more than I otherwise would. That's just a thing for me. 2/
I also feel this movie made me believe that regular people in this world love the other DC heroes, specifically Supes and Batman. It just felt like a given in this story when they were brought up. Like "yeah of course heroes exist here!" It was part of the fabric of this world 3/
