#atsuhina meet-cute, side: GinSuna
Atsumu meets his friends at the pub for Trivia night wearing his favorite Star Trek pride shirt.

Suna snerks at him. "Desperate much?"

Atsumu flicks his ear. "/No/, just hailin' on all frequencies," he retorts, thumbs in his chest, preening. +

Suna rolls his eyes. "Sit down, nerd." Gin pulls Atsumu into a chair and they tease him about how long he's been single, sharing friendly laughter as they look over the menu.

Then the waiter comes over with a tall cold beer in his hand, setting it down right in front of Atsumu.

Atsumu says he didn't order yet and it's a mistake, but the waiter waves him off.

"Nah, it's /definitely/ for you."

"From who?" Atsmu asks.

The waiter clears his throat, turning pink around the ears. "From an admirer who asked me to relay this message: Star Wars is better."

Atsumu splutters. His teammates bust up laughing.

"Take it back!" Atsumu points at the offending beer.

The waiter holds up his hands, retreating. "No can do."

Atsumu grinds his teeth. /No way/ is Star Wars better than Star Trek! Don't they know he's the resident expert?

"Looks like ya been challenged!" Gin points out.

"Wait, what about our order?" Suna sighs, pouting.

"This ain't the time fer that!" Atsumu picks up the beer and stands. "I'm gonna find the asshole that sent me this drink, and when I find 'im, 'm gonna..."

But as he sweeps the room his eyes lock with a hot redhead sitting at the bar who's smirking right at him. The stranger lifts his glass in salute, showing off his Star Wars pride shirt - an uncanny match to Atsumu's.

Atsumu's warp-core starts to overheat. Red alert! RED ALERT!

By some miracle his inner-Klingon kicks in and he marches right over to the bar, ready for war.

The redhead beams a cocky grin and nods to the pint in Atsumu's hand. "Looks like you received my transmission."

From up close the guy's even /more/ stunning, exactly his type. Fuck.

"Looks like yer communication relays are malfunctionin' if ya think Star Wars is in any way superior," Atsumu counters, holding out the beer.

"I disagree," the guy smirks. He gestures to the open seat beside him at the bar. "Looks to me like the force between us has awakened."

Atsumu snorts. "Maybe in a galaxy far, far away. Nice try."

"Do or do not, there is no try," the redhead grins. "Hi, I'm Shouyou and I think we should go on a date. How about you?"

Atsumu takes the offered seat. "Keepin' a distant orbit until preliminary scans are complete."

Shouyou laughs. "Feel free to take all the tricorder readings you need. I'm betting you're going to say yes, though."

Atsumu leans an elbow on the bar. "What makes ya so sure? Yer a little short for a storm trooper," he teases. "Not great odds fer impressin' me."

"Judge me by my size, do you?" Shouyou quips and bumps their knees together. They they both laugh.

"I find your lack of faith disturbing," Shouyou continues, scooting closer and leaning on the bar. "Besides, as an explorer, aren't you intrigued by the chance to date me

and boldly go where--"

"--No one has gone before?" Atsumu finishes, throwing Shouyou a leer. "That a confession or a challenge, Shouyou?"

Shouyou wags his brows. "I think you know exactly what it is. But I'm going to need your name before we can negotiate a peace treaty."

Atsumu grins and holds out his hand. "Atsumu."

Shouyou clasps it in his, eyes twinkling. "I came here for trivia night, but I think I'd rather spend the evening with you studying the final frontier."

Atsumu nods. "Wouldn't mind explorin' a strange, new world or two with ya."

Shouyou laughs. "Then may the force be with us." He raises his beer.

Atsumu grins and clinks his beer glass with Shouyou's. "An' may we live long an' prosper."

[And they fall in love and live happily ever after as an unbeatable Trivia duo. The end!]

Omake - Atsumu and Shouyou form a new team for Trivia night, and Gin and Suna join forces with Shouyou's former teammates Yamaguchi and Yachi to try and slaughter the rebel traitors. They're good but Shouyou and Atsumu's alliance reigns supreme, crowning them nerdiest of nerds.🖖
