Had to break out the bird account to say @Meta and @facebookapp keep tagging my posts about the Comanche Language, a critically endangered language, as sexual solicitation. Your review team “works in many languages”, right. Not mine. #comanche #endangeredlanguage #IndigenousMe

We, like many other Indigenous languages in the world, have been impacted by colonialism & we are fighting with every breath we take to recreate our speaking communities and cultural activities, in some cases with fewer than 10 birth speakers and sometimes, no speakers left.

And for our posts to be tagged and flagged by an algorithm that thinks because it can’t understand our languages that we are soliciting sex when we are sharing resources for our people to use to learn and get them engaged with our languages is a slap in the face @finkd

And a reminder that the system, whatever non-Indigenous system that is, is not meant for us. Here is a screenshot of the _offensive post_ @Meta

And that sharing resources meant for our endangered languages being tagged as nudity or sexual activity when we have an epidemic of Indigenous people going missing and being murdered and targeted for trafficking is just gross. #MMIW #MMIP

We are up against a metaphorical hourglass of sand dripping down, but this deadline is made of ACTUAL people, and I now have to wait 24 hours to share the wordle that will get people engaged with our language, our dictionary, our words, our speakers, and… #languageback

this may seem like a small thing but to us working on the ground, doing the work of rebuilding the damages done to us as people, it’s just one more barrier to healing & growing & pushing against the entropy for our languages caused by English and English-based systems. #landback
