WISCONSINITES: Election Day is Tuesday! It’s the primary for our local spring elections—which matter more this year than ever. I was on @Maddow last night talking about it! Watch the clip… and then read and share this thread:
Wisconsin’s election on Tuesday, February 15 is the primary for April 5 general elections for judges, mayors, city councilmembers, school boards, and more. All of these offices matter. And some of them affect how elections are administered—which has enormous implications.
Anti-democracy, Big Lie-believing Republicans are getting involved in these races. msnbc.com/rachel-maddow/…
Kelly Ruh, a fraudulent GOP elector and top Kleefisch advisor, is running for reelection to De Pere City Council. Melinda Eck, who organized a January 6 rally at Green Bay City Hall, is running for Green Bay City Council.
If pro-insurrectionists decide on election administration budgets and choose municipal clerks, democracy in Wisconsin is in danger. That makes April 5 a critical priority—and the Primary election next Tuesday, February 15 is when it all starts.
Voting is habit-forming. The more people turn out on Feb 15, the more people we know will turn out on April 5—and in November, to re-elect Governor Evers and beat Ron Johnson. So let’s turn out voters for this Tuesday! Here’s @WisDems guide to get moving: vote.wisdems.org
First: make sure you're registered to vote. Check your voter registration status! If you’re not registered, no worries—Wisconsin has same-day registration, so you can register when you go to vote. (Just remember to bring your Proof of Residence document.) myvote.wi.gov/en-us/Register…
Second: find your polling place or, if you have an absentee ballot, your clerk or nearest dropbox location. Some polling locations are open this weekend for early voting! Get the info and make your plan to vote now: myvote.wi.gov/en-us/Find-My-…
By the way: It’s too late to request an absentee ballot for this coming Tuesday, but you can request one for the rest of the year at this website: myvote.wi.gov/voteabsentee
And if you have any voting questions, call our Voter Assistance Hotline: 608-DEM-3232. We have fantastic, trained volunteers who are waiting for your call! If they’ve missed you, leave a voicemail, and they’ll call you back within 24 hours.
About that plan to vote: what time are you voting? How are you getting there? Is there anyone you can bring with you? Great, great, and extra great. Write it all down. Voila! Your plan to vote is ready.
Now that you’ve made your plan to vote, make sure others do the same—text and call your friends and family. Or help us reach other Wisconsinites! We have a Weekend of Action THIS weekend to turn out voters for Tuesday. Sign up for a shift here: mobilize.us/wisdems/?end_d…
Even if there’s no local election for you to vote in this Spring Primary, you can get involved in organizing to spread the word. Whether it’s calling, texting, or reaching out to friends—there’s always something for you to do to get out the vote with us. mobilize.us/wisdems/?end_d…
We’re going to keep working to elect Democrats at every level—including all the local offices that may be contested where you live. The threats to democracy are coming at every level. So we’ll stop them by organizing at every level. Hope you can join us: mobilize.us/wisdems/?end_d…

Thread: Wisconsin Republicans now have two candidates for governor—and, attempting to out-radical each other, they’re ripping each other apart. It’s Republicans in disarray, and it’s revealing just how politically toxic they’d be if elected. Read on for more:
Kevin Nicholson announced he’s running for Wisconsin governor. #AntiChoiceKevin is bad for Wisconsin—supporting, as our new site explains, a total ban on abortion care with no exceptions. His run for governor has sent the Wisconsin GOP spiraling. antichoicekevin.com
Even before his entering the GOP primary, Nicholson made headlines statewide by slamming Kleefisch (@RebeccaForReal) as “dumb as a bag of hammers” after Kleefisch said Republicans should “hire mercenaries” to help with “ballot harvesting” to win in ‘22. jsonline.com/story/news/pol…
DEADLINE: Voting rights stalled in the Senate. Channel your rage into ramping up Plan B: Protecting voting rights and organizing in key states like Wisconsin—voter by voter. Read on for how to help, then become a monthly donor by the midnight FEC deadline: secure.actblue.com/donate/janeom2…
The GOP’s plot to suppress and subvert its way to power in 2022 and 2024 depends on gaining enough control of enough states to overturn a presidential election. If we hold the line in Governorships like WI, MI, and PA, the GOP plot fails. And the closest of these is Wisconsin.
In America’s must-win tipping point state, the furthest extremes of the right are becoming more emboldened. A first-year far-right state Rep was filmed calling for Republicans to “cheat.” Another GOPer introduced a bill calling for election nullification.
THREAD: Self-serving Ron Johnson announced his reelection campaign 16 days ago. It has NOT gone well. Wisconsin voters are seeing @WisDems billboards, @dscc TV ads, & digital & traditional media exposés of his corruption. Chip in to keep it going & read on!secure.actblue.com/donate/billboa…
@WisDems@dscc Johnson promised in 2010 AND 2016 that he’d only serve two terms. But for Johnson, promises are like cobwebs: annoying trash to be wiped away. Why the change of heart? Maybe because his net worth has more than doubled while in office. 🧐 congressionalintegrity.org/memo-how-ron-j…
When Ron Johnson announced, he blew hundreds of thousands of dollars on TV ads trying to explain away his breaking of his two-term promise. Meanwhile, the @dscc put ads on TV explaining who he really serves: himself.
To protect voting rights now, organize in the states.
The battle for the ballot—shifting tides, historic breakthroughs and heartbreaking setbacks—has never been a "one vote in the Senate" situation. You, the non-senator reading this right now, have a critical role. We need all hands on deck.
This vote failed.
Time for Plan B.

BREAKING: RON JOHNSON JUST ANNOUNCED HE’S RUNNING FOR RE-ELECTION. He’s the worst senator up in ‘22—AND the most vulnerable. We can defeat him. Chip in any amount and let’s end Ron Johson’s political career for good. secure.actblue.com/donate/ronjohn…
Ron Johnson is, infamously, @TheWorstSenator. (If you question that distinction, click through to that account.) He burst into a new level of national prominence & loathing after 1/6, when he fed the insurrection—then denied it was an insurrection at all.
And we can’t forget how Johnson scammed every American by giving massive tax breaks to his biggest donors and himself—while, by the way, paying virtually nothing in state income taxes in 2017, and opposing tax breaks for the middle class. apnews.com/article/busine…
Ron Johnson has spent years in the Senate looking out for himself at the expense of Wisconsinites and failing to do the job he was elected to do, and it’s time to face the consequences.

My quote in NYT: “He’s an active menace to American democracy, a threat to public health and an economic saboteur of the middle class. His sole redeeming quality in public life is that in 2022, he’s going to inspire Democrats to organize and turn out.” nytimes.com/2022/01/09/us/…
