You're starting to see this among teenagers. They're progressive, but they're not stupid, & they know when they're being lied to. They see their 30 yr old social justice teachers as relics, & they mock this crap whenever they can. This cult will end more quickly than ppl think
(And the ones who have the fewest fcks to give, by the way, usually aren't white.)
In fact I sometimes have to tell college students who DM me about politics that they need to cool it a little with the pushback, bcuz they're going to get in trouble for no good reason. (One snark thing that's become popular is kids get asked their pronouns & they say "nor/mal")
Land acknowledgments, in partic, are seen by many teens the way cold-war kids saw the pledge of allegiance, or the way my classmates in Montreal regarded saying grace before lunch at selwyn house. forcing a kid to say something doesn't convince them it's true. it's the opposite
you're always going to get a corps of kids that goes in hard for the orthodoxy. These are the new student-council-club treasurer types, aspiring prefects, model-UN junkies, etc. Nothing wrong with this. (I went to a few UNs!). But they're now basically the *conservative* faction
I try to avoid discussing this stuff with my own kids, in part because kids are (both delightfully & annoyingly) contrarian. the best way to make wokeism attractive is to treat it as dangerous & revolutionary. It's not. It's just a sad little status cult for boring rich people
Teen pushback reminds me how quickly cycles of history move. Questioning french royal absolutism was a capital offense in 1788. By 1793 royalism itself got u the death penalty. I find I can really connect with kids by carrying a skateboard & getting deep into this kind of analogy

Free advice for Conservative leadership candidates... Stop getting people to try to *like* you. No one *likes* conservatives much in this country, even in normal times. They're a necessary evil who get elected when Libs or NDP get too high on themselves. Like, e.g., right now...
To the extent you're "likeable," that's a bug, not a feature. What ppl want is the boss who walks into a room and fires all the idiots. No one likes that guy. What's worse, the attempt to convince everyone you're likeable turns you into a sort of grinning Mr Potato Head....
This does NOT mean u become a Trump-style asshole. What it means is u have one job: get rid of the asinine crap that even many of JT's own followers hate: the race baiting, genocide this & genocide that, flag lowering, knee bending, & all the other photo-op hashtag bullshit ....
.... And I say this as someone who's vaccinated, and will get boosted as many times as they let me. I love vaccines because they are the key to normal life. But what we are dealing with here are people who don't want normal life. They want to be sacred hermits and martyrs
One reason y media is so massively out of touch with society is that white collar types, incl journos, have gotten lot of validation for becoming bishops of this faith. I'm thinking of arthur & tubb at tstar telling us the end is nigh. This is their role now. They can't let it go
I guess my greatest worry here is that this apparent hoax will discredit the many journalists who tweeted it out credulously on Sunday night.... almost like they were inclined to believe this nonsense due to, gee I dunno, bias.
not only are these swastika loons incredibly scarce, but even the scattered swastikas pictured at protests all seem aimed at *impugning* Trudeau etc as Nazis. This is obviously a brain-dead protest tactic. But it's the opposite of pro-Nazi: Theyre using Nazi as a term of abuse...
It's actually common among euro protestors. who talk about "pass sanitaire" as "nazitaire." That's what that bumper sticker seems to indicate. Yes, dumb. But the guy isnt like "Hooray for Nazis" He's saying that vax passports are so bad that only *hated* Nazis would like them"...
and yet, over last 2 weeks, we've all been asked to pretend away these obvious facts in the service of social-justice mind-melt...even tho the signs are basically the visual equivalent of (equally stupid) tweets accusing trump of being nazi. they presuppose (rightly!) nazi=bad...
Zero surprise this guy is from Quebec. Almost all of my anti-woke sources within Libs/civil-service fall into 2 groups: quebecers & immigrants. They're the ones who'll save the Cdn left from Butts' snob circus (with some help from old school socialists) nationalpost.com/news/politics/…
One of the most beautiful political sights I've seen recently was the *Canadian* flags at a quebec anti mandate protest. (And I don't even agree with the protestors.) if you're one of trudeau's hatchet men and you see that, you're like "oh fck what have we done...."
The interesting place to be is inside @cafreeland's political brain. Existential choice. Faithful heir apparent ....or principled quasi dissident?
Can anyone provide me with some examples here (see below).... Protest movements on both sides always attract a few hard boiled haters. Out of the thousands of people who went to Ottawa, there must be at least one real example, no?
