Atlanta's Wealth Gap by median household income: $83,000/year for white families vs. $28,000/yr for black families.

In Atlanta, 29% of black households live below the poverty line compared to 2% of white households.
Atlanta's top 5% of income earners bring home an average of $306,000 a year while the bottom 20% live below the poverty line with income averaging $17,000 a year.
Almost all of our city's most impoverished neighborhoods are in south and west Atlanta.

A person born into poverty in Atlanta only has a 4% chance of escaping poverty. Buckhead neighborhoods are represented in green. Majority black neighborhoods are represented in red, orange and yellow.
