The counter protest, which held up one section of the pro-COVID convoy for about 55 minutes at River Valley Road and Fortway Drive, consisted of between 20-30 people.
Three paddy wagons showed up along with about 20 cops in order to break up the small counter-protest. We're unaware of any similar show of force in order to enforce the count ordered injunction on honking which was not enforced by the police today.
Under the Critical Infrastructure Defence Act a person can be charged without a warrant and on the first offence a person can be fined between $1000 and $10,000, jailed for up to six months or both.
The act was brought in by Kenney and the UCP after one Wetsuwet'en solidarity rail blockade on the outskirts of Edmonton that lasted for about 8 hours.
