I've touched on this topic lightly regarding LA City/County & state. More or less misuse of funds in my opinion but that be up to you to decide. 🧵
For example: to do a camp sweep, is about 5-6k for one encampment. a Encampment is defined by the fact that a tent is there & -maybe- trash around the camp (not all camps are like this)
The cost of one sweep, regardless the amount of "tents" at the location. Could easily be a voucher to temporarily house these people for 1-3 months at for example: a motel 6 using a AARP discount. Considering they're already living together in one tent (could be up to 8 people)
room for 3 people is still the cost of ONE person. Therefore a 28 day stay in one room is about 3k or less for the 28 days. I would like to suggest a apartment and cover the rent for two or three months but landlords are being even tighter now thanks to COVID & rent moratorium.
However @LACity Thinks this cost effective to do sweeps instead of Vouchers. This is also the same group that was doing small business grants. You can read that here: ewddlacity.com/index.php/reco…
When the small business grant started. I suggested that they could offer the same terms and conditions and still make a buck from the reasonable interest they would just cut the same deal to the working homeless so this way we could have first/last/deposit
& now six months to a year worth of rent & allow repayment at again, reasonable interest.
Then California had the vax for the win lottery. In my opinion, they wasted . 10 winners, 1.5mil each. ktla.com/news/coronavir…
thats at least 15mil down the drain. With 15mil. Thats 500 Mobile home Trailers. With a budget of at least 30k per trailer. at the very least, 2 people per RV, thats would of been at least a dent of 1k or more people off the streets.
Now when i say 30k. I mean you can find a decent Mobile home in NJ for anywhere between 20-30k. Moving anywhere else cheaper is even more of a savings in terms of buying power. Thus leading to more people off the streets, even if it means outside of California.
To understand why that will never work is because the system as most unhoused people call it. Doesn't like writing or giving money to be used outside of the state, city or county. I cannot ask a service provider here in LA to put me in contact with another in San Bernardino.
Mainly because HMIS lahsa.org/hmis/ & CES (Coordinated Entry System) is not designed to work this way for unknown reasons to me and it seems reasonable to me that it should considering not many of us can afford to live in California, let alone; LA County or the City.
I was not the very first but early to be outspoken when HHH & H passed. Where the tax payer pays extra to fund housing for the homeless. I used to hold up a panhandling sign saying "your tax dollars isn't doing anything for me". nbclosangeles.com/investigations…
I saw H & HHH as a gimmick. a way to line their coffers with more money to credit reasons but obviously no proof, just a opinion. (more to come)
In late 2019 to 2021. I was very out spoken against LAHSA & their flaws before the audit was done that exposed these flaws. Nobody listened. In my opinion. latimes.com/california/sto…
I’m still outspoken against LAHSA but nothing changed. The system still broken, I’m black balled because I’ve been speaking out, sharing my story of my experiences with the system & this is how they retaliate & now no service provider will touch me because of LAHSA.
More inc. on mobile so having to bounce around to nab things.
So this thread covers more or less my efforts on getting something done with LAHSA
Then getting the government, let alone Washington to notice these critical failures has been a headache.
Oh yeah. I also forgot about that 12BILLION that Gavin signed to help. Yeah.
And finally I called out LAHSA publicly & obviously privately by email to the county board of supervisors, USCIH & “emailing the White House” with no real answer as to why or how LAHSA gets away with claiming to spend anywhere from 10k to 40k
So now that we’re semi caught up on the major issues of funding being spent on “homelessness” but yet nothing seems to be improving. The short answer is: accountability. Nobody is being held accountable & Washington doesn’t have a answer. Even Rev Andy tried.
Of course this isn’t a isolated issue to California alone, NY is facing similar issues & potentially worse in different aspects.
As for myself? I’d like to see the EHV work but because I’m black balled from the system that CES providers don’t want to work with me. I’m having a difficult time.
If I could get the Emergency Housing Voucher (EHV) then I could get that money in a “check” and literally bank it. 18 months worth. Total about 54k if I get the max. That would allow me to move out of California & buy a trailer in NJ &@be done. I’m homeless but stuck in poverty.
The other factors for homelessness that would need to be addressed: people that have back child support worth more than what they make at a any retail or warehouse work. So real actual pro bono lawyers

Lawyer for those whom are homeless because IRS.
Of course we have rehab & similar services for those on drugs & alcoholism but I think what leads to it, is the always sleeping with one eye open, waking up to every little sound that sounds too close for comfort.
Sure, we had the tiny homes project but that flopped after one solid rain storm flooded those places & a covid outbreak in them. They’re so locked down now, no media is allowed to video tape inside or outside.
We (majority of advocates) knew about tiny homes not working because of the foundation.
And finally services work. If you’re in the higher priority bracket. Meaning Families or single parent with kid/ disabled ( think amputation) / elderly / then everyone else.

DPSS (Department of social services) literally provides: Moving vouchers to families &
And now babysitting vouchers.

A single individual like myself, only gets food stamps & max $220 cash aid. If it rains for more than one day, I’m SOL. If the covid vax gives me a bad side effect for more than one day, I’m SOL.
Yet we can be PUNISHED for selling our food stamps in exchange for CASH if we need to because of bad weather or illness to be able to avoid both or deal with it because we need a room.

I deal with social anxiety disorder so I don’t do well with others in a group setting
I’ve been YANKED out of a shelter by DMH & had one night covered. Now they don’t do that anymore. Yet where is that 12B gone to? Your guess is as good as mine.
At the end of the day as a individual. All I need is first/last/deposit & six months to a year in a account to get a place, not including the problem with my bad credit or that I have a eviction hanging over my head that could take 9 years to clear or longer & landlords can deny
Me because of it.

That’s it. I hope I’ve throughly answered your questions

Washing your hands every single time you return to the spot you call "Home" & hand sanitizers work like a charm for me. Even at places like 7-11 whom offer them all over their store, i use them when i go in and again before i leave. Simple enough.
It is fine to be 'Alone'.

I can chat with my friends any time by text or VoIP using Discord as my source. I still have a phone to where i can call some of them & guess what? if i want to game with them: Online play. It's been no different since pre-covid. (1/3)

Gavin signed a 12B Bill to address homelessness in CA. 4.6B can make a huge dent to house the homeless in normal everyday apartments at 70k per unit (unit is family or individual) for ample time to self sustaining stability. Why is that not being used? it help at least 66k ppl.🧵
Instead what we are seeing is that money being wastefully spent on encampment clean ups across the state.

I'm in the database with DPSS & CA DMH for needing mental health treatment & not one phone call. So somebody tell me, where is that money being spent on mental health at?
Yes Washington needs to step-in but not give more money, to control the state misuse of funds as Gavin has been doing.

The Vax for the Win Lottery & Now Energy saving. Then his office not doing jack anything about the misuse of funds from H & HHH

Let me make something clear: 🧵

By sharing the video i posted. I agree with the sentiment. Meaning the attitude toward a situation.

I PERSONALLY don't believe in faith based support because I am non religious: meaning not relating to or believing in a religion.
My faith goes as far as: something put us here, if you want to call it 'xyz'. Then that is on you. I don't want to be wrong in the end.

I believe there is something greater than us as the human race.
There is OPINIONS that Andy has shared that i do not 100% support but i don't speak against it because he is on a different path from mine. So whom am i to say how he should drive in his lane when i am in my own lane.

LA Passed 41.18 therefore criminalizing #Homelness & being unhoused. This madness has to -STOP-. I been silently pondering on how to address this matter. The conclusion? 🧵#homesnotzones #4118 #SeizeTheHotels #HomelessLivesMatter
I've come to the idea of forming 'Coalition for Change'.

To make a nonprofit that is not influenced by politics, is not under the control of the City/County or State. That isn't LAHSA & will never be like LAHSA. #homesnotzones #4118 #SeizeTheHotels #HomelessLivesMatter
This means the nonprofit it's self has to be 100% publicly funded, not by any money from any form of government. To be funded by the public & directly from the public. H & HHH are the failed examples of why this is needed. #homesnotzones #4118 #SeizeTheHotels #HomelessLivesMatter
