Who's ready for our City Bike preview for 2022? While we're really excited about e-bikes and cargo bikes, there's nothing more practical and efficient than a regular Dutch-style city bicycle. We've scoured the globe to get a very limited stock of bikes, first come, first served!
While other Covid-related shortages have more or less gone away, bikes have remained stubbornly scarce. Many of our offerings in 2022 were actually ordered in 2020, and only reaching us now. Supply is tight, and we're doing our best.
First up, the Breezer Downtown will be back in our lineup for another season! This is our favourite city bike for a lot of reasons: chromoly steel frame, comfortable geometry, and quality components. It's an easy bike to ride that will last a generation. londonbicyclecafe.com/bike-store/bre…
It comes in a step-through, or roadster style frame, with everything included: lights, fenders, bell, kickstand, rear carrier, and lots of LOVE! londonbicyclecafe.com/bike-store/bre…
Add a set of your favourite panniers to make this bike 'yours,' and ride off into the sunset. londonbicyclecafe.com/search?q=panni…
The Breezer Downtown is our best-selling (ever!) bike, and we think it's possible there are more of these on the streets of #LdnOnt than any other single bike model. It's the perfect bike to start your bike journey, and priced at $899.99, it won't break the bank, either.
Also returning after a year's hiatus is the Pure Cycles City Step Through and City Classic! We've placed an order for these bikes, but aren't 100% sure what we'll receive yet.
They're not on our website yet (they'll show up when we know what quantity of bikes we're getting), but you can check them out on the @PureCycles website if you're excited about these ones. purecycles.com/products/pure-…
@PureCycles We LOVE the 3-speed Internal Gear Hub. Why? It's simple:
- you can change gears when you're stopped
- single chain line means your chain never falls off
- low maintenance and stress free!
The newest Lavender coloured bikes look stunning and we're super excited to have these bikes back in our lineup for 2022! They come with everything you need: lights, fenders, rear rack, bell, and kickstand, and are priced at $899.99 CAD
Next up are the @VSFManufaktur lineup. These bikes are high-quality German-built (not subject to import duty!), with high ratio internal gear hubs, dynamo lighting, and Racktime carriers. We usually see these as a great upgrade four season upgrade for people who want to do more.
@VSFManufaktur There are three models we'll feature in *limited* quantities in 2022. If we have the bike in stock, don't wait, we won't see more for a while.

T-50: $1299.99 (7-sp IGH, coaster brake!)
T-50 Sport: $1649.99 (24-speed Alivio, disc brake)
T-100: $1999.99 (8-sp IGH, V-brake)
@VSFManufaktur The VSF T-50 and T-50S are superb all-around city bikes. Lightweight alloy frames, gorgeous low step-through option (called "Wave") and enough gear range to get around the city comfortably. Lights are dynamo powered: you'll never charge another battery! londonbicyclecafe.com/bike-store/fah…
The T-100 is the cream of the crop in terms of a City Bike that can do a little more. Its 8-speed Shimano Nexus IGH, and chromoly steel frame are as well suited to your daily commute as they are riding out of town. #ToTheGroceryStoreAndBeyond, personified. londonbicyclecafe.com/bike-store/fah…
Our entire season's stock of T-100's are arriving this month, and we have a demo available to try, so come on down and book an appointment to get on one of the smoothest bikes you've ever rode. londonbicyclecafe.com/bike-repair-se…
No city bike store would be complete without a true Dutch Omafiets and Opafiets. Our lineup is well-served by the @gazellebikesusa Tour Populair! londonbicyclecafe.com/bike-store/gaz…
@gazellebikesusa The Tour Pop is the real deal in terms of an "heirloom" bike. It's built to withstand years of North Sea salt spray on the streets of Amsterdam, and we're pretty sure that makes them well-suited to Southwestern Ontario's salty streets, too. It comes absolutely complete at $1999.
These bikes are all available in incredibly limited quantities this year. We know you want to start a bike habit, and we want to help. We'll do our best to have bikes in stock for you, so you can get #ToTheGroceryStoreAndBeyond in 2022!

Hey #LdnOntBike we’re about to get walloped by a severe storm. It’s going to bring a ton of rain, flood the river, and then flash freeze all in about 48 hours. ImageImage
Rain starting tonight, continuing to tomorrow. Temperature will fall tomorrow (Thursday), so the morning ride is warm and wet, but afternoon ride home will be extremely cold and icy. #LdnOnt Image
The river will be very dangerous as all the snow that’s on the ground will melt and run into the river. Watch the water level here if you have to go anywhere on the TVP. Above 3.5m usually means some flooded parts, above 4.0 = many sections impassable. wateroffice.ec.gc.ca/report/real_ti…

You’re going to see a lot of #SuperBowl ads today for cars and trucks that are being used to intimidate citizens in our cities, pollute our skies, and are responsible for creating the planetary crisis. Watch this one, and imagine a different world.
Or this one.

Here's our big announcement for February! We're welcoming Riese and Müller's fleet of cargo bikes to our shop in 2022! r-m.de/en-ca/bikes/?s… ImageImageImageImage
Here's the link to our February newsletter to get the TL;DR. We're *super* excited to offer this lineup to you, and know that R&M will be amazing when you choose it for your family's next vehicle. londonbicyclecafe.com/campaigns/view…
Why Riese and Müller? It's about great design, that's built to last. R&M's offerings are a step above in terms of craftsmanship, and it only takes a few second on board to understand why. Image

Hey y'all, Ben here. Guess what? Another break-in. Yep, for real, we can't make this up. We'd all been having a lovely long weekend when at around 9pm last night our phones started ringing. Thread. 🧵👇
We had what we believe to be a false alarm on Friday - maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. But last night was our SIXTH break-in since the start of the pandemic.
-
SIX.
We're out of insurance claims, so all of this is out of pocket for us. Again.
There are so many underlying issues with this particular break-in it's hard to know where to start. We have a failure of our social system/supports. We have a failure of our police services to act. And we have a bureaucratic nightmare at City Hall.

So City Staff have come to Cycling Advisory Committee with no protected bike lanes on the table for @DundasPlace. They keep calling it a "detour" but what they're looking for is "last link in the network they've spent all their time and money building without a plan"
It's important to note "cars will be directed to York" is basically hopes and prayers. There will be nothing deterring through traffic on Dundas, which will be busy busy all summer long, especially as we get back to normal. Blocking the entrances wasn't considered feasible.
The other four options are hot steaming garbage. None provide protection of any sort, and all will be used for extra illegal parking. Paint is not infrastructure, QED, none of these options are infrastructure. An "occasional planter" doesn't cut it.
