Hey #LdnOntBike we’re about to get walloped by a severe storm. It’s going to bring a ton of rain, flood the river, and then flash freeze all in about 48 hours.
Rain starting tonight, continuing to tomorrow. Temperature will fall tomorrow (Thursday), so the morning ride is warm and wet, but afternoon ride home will be extremely cold and icy. #LdnOnt
The river will be very dangerous as all the snow that’s on the ground will melt and run into the river. Watch the water level here if you have to go anywhere on the TVP. Above 3.5m usually means some flooded parts, above 4.0 = many sections impassable. wateroffice.ec.gc.ca/report/real_ti…
If you’re out on your bike, carry a dry set of clothes, a warm drink, and have a backup plan if it’s too ugly to ride. Bus routes will be salted first once the freeze hits. Conditions will change quickly, don’t be surprised if they are worse than advertised. Stay safe!
Who's ready for our City Bike preview for 2022? While we're really excited about e-bikes and cargo bikes, there's nothing more practical and efficient than a regular Dutch-style city bicycle. We've scoured the globe to get a very limited stock of bikes, first come, first served!
While other Covid-related shortages have more or less gone away, bikes have remained stubbornly scarce. Many of our offerings in 2022 were actually ordered in 2020, and only reaching us now. Supply is tight, and we're doing our best.
First up, the Breezer Downtown will be back in our lineup for another season! This is our favourite city bike for a lot of reasons: chromoly steel frame, comfortable geometry, and quality components. It's an easy bike to ride that will last a generation. londonbicyclecafe.com/bike-store/bre…
You’re going to see a lot of #SuperBowl ads today for cars and trucks that are being used to intimidate citizens in our cities, pollute our skies, and are responsible for creating the planetary crisis. Watch this one, and imagine a different world.
Here's our big announcement for February! We're welcoming Riese and Müller's fleet of cargo bikes to our shop in 2022! r-m.de/en-ca/bikes/?s…
Here's the link to our February newsletter to get the TL;DR. We're *super* excited to offer this lineup to you, and know that R&M will be amazing when you choose it for your family's next vehicle. londonbicyclecafe.com/campaigns/view…
Why Riese and Müller? It's about great design, that's built to last. R&M's offerings are a step above in terms of craftsmanship, and it only takes a few second on board to understand why.
Hey y'all, Ben here. Guess what? Another break-in. Yep, for real, we can't make this up. We'd all been having a lovely long weekend when at around 9pm last night our phones started ringing. Thread. 🧵👇
We had what we believe to be a false alarm on Friday - maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. But last night was our SIXTH break-in since the start of the pandemic.
-
SIX.
We're out of insurance claims, so all of this is out of pocket for us. Again.
There are so many underlying issues with this particular break-in it's hard to know where to start. We have a failure of our social system/supports. We have a failure of our police services to act. And we have a bureaucratic nightmare at City Hall.
Looking for an e-bike RIGHT NOW? We have some immediate availability on select sizes/colours. If you have a bike on order, and would like to switch to one of these, there is *no charge* to switch!

So City Staff have come to Cycling Advisory Committee with no protected bike lanes on the table for @DundasPlace. They keep calling it a "detour" but what they're looking for is "last link in the network they've spent all their time and money building without a plan"
It's important to note "cars will be directed to York" is basically hopes and prayers. There will be nothing deterring through traffic on Dundas, which will be busy busy all summer long, especially as we get back to normal. Blocking the entrances wasn't considered feasible.
The other four options are hot steaming garbage. None provide protection of any sort, and all will be used for extra illegal parking. Paint is not infrastructure, QED, none of these options are infrastructure. An "occasional planter" doesn't cut it.
