UPDATE: The names of DougCo Schools employees who requested an absence on the day of a Feb 3 protest against the school board will be made public tomorrow, according to a letter the district sent to teachers and staff.
A letter from the district tonight notified teachers and staff who requested absences. The letter, provided to 9NEWS by several district employees, does not say who requested the information under the Colorado's Open Records Act.
DougCo Schools notified teachers and staff it plans to release information "which includes your name" but did not specify if that also includes where employees work and why they requested time off on Feb 3 (sick child, bereavement, sick day, personal time, etc).
The letter reads, "This email is being sent to your attention since the Douglas County School District’s records indicate that you requested to be absent from work on February 3," But one district employee tells me she reported for work and was sent home - and got this warning.
District employees who claim they were out of FMLA, taking care of a sick child, recovering from surgery, and even some who went to work and were sent home on Feb 3rd say they were notified they're on "the list" demanded by conservative leaders.
I received this message from the husband of a DougCo teacher.

THREAD: Releasing the names of DougCo Schools teachers absent from school during a protest continues a trend of conservative leaders in Douglas County seeking the names, and sometimes addresses, of perceived opponents: teachers, public health workers, and journalists. #copolitics
DougCo Schools is required to comply with an open records request to release names of teachers absent on the protest day (expected to include teachers absent for other reasons). Fmr DA @GeorgeBrauchler said parents should be able to "confront" them.
NEW: @CCSDK12 Board Meeting tonight will be virtual "due to a perceived bomb threat directed at the Board of Education meeting by an individual with a documented criminal history," according to the district.
@CCSDK12 Cherry Creek School District's announcement of the threat notes, "Recently, other metro school districts have received similar threats directed towards their Boards and/or Superintendents." Tonight's meeting will be held in a secured location and livestreamed.
Last week, a Jeffco School Board meeting was held in a secure building without the public after what the district described as a threat from someone demanding a mask mandate be dropped immediately.
NEW: Republican Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters is speaking tonight at an FEC United event in Castle Rock alongside founder Joe Oltmann who has called for the mass hanging of political opponents, including Governor Polis. #copolitics
Clerk Peters entered to a thunderous standing ovation from the crowd. FEC United, which has an affiliated militia wing, has collected signed loyalty pledges from a number of elected Republicans in Colorado and was previously led by @cologop chair @ColoradoKbb.
@cologop@ColoradoKbb Tonight's event also features former University of Colorado Boulder visiting conservative scholar John Eastman, who advised the Trump legal team on how to overturn the 2020 election. Eastman has said he will defy a subpoena from the Jan 6 select committee.
UPDATE: Adams County's Democratic Sheriff @RickReigenborn is running for re-election and eluding @Marshall9News' questions about his decision to join a car chase, livestream it, and keep chasing when other officers said it was too dangerous to continue. #copolitics
The Adams County Sheriff's office now says Sheriff @RickReigenborn's mystery wingman during the livestreamed car chase was a former radio broadcaster named "Tim Sheley." Tim Shiely is better known as @thescootermcgee, a former talk radio host and conspiracy theorist.
NEW: Republican Mesa County Elections Clerk Tina Peters turned herself in this morning on a misdemeanor charge of obstructing an officer. Booking photo from Mesa County Sheriff’s Office. #copolitics
Peters struggled with and appeared to kick at an officer as law enforcement attempted to serve a search warrant on Tuesday. Prosecutors say Peters used an iPad to improperly record a court proceeding and lied to a judge about it, a potential felony.
NEW: An arrest warrant has been issued for Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters for a misdemeanor charge of Obstructing a Peace Officer. This is in addition to the felony investigation that prompted the confrontation. #copolitics
The affidavit in support of the arrest warrant says Peters interfered with officers and attempted to kick an officer, striking her Taser and magazine pouch on her belt. "I told the suspect, 'Do not kick! Do you understand!?'" an officer recounted.
The affidavit says Peters was resisting and going limp. This is seen on a video of the incident where an officer tells Peters, "Stand up like an adult." Peters responded, "Shut up! What an asshole thing to say to me."
