Watching the 1982 stage version of Sweeney Todd has the side effect of me getting irrationally angry about how dirty the Tim Burton version did Johanna Barker.
She is not your cute little porcelain goth bitch, she can and will shoot a man to escape an asylum and be the first to look upon the bodies of her dead mother and father before escaping to France with her devoted himbo.
Johanna Barker is a Bad Survivor and we love her and she deserves her lovely honeymoon in France with Antony Hope and learning how to experience intimacy with someone who isn't a creepily possessive old man

I'm seeing the "queer people need to be more CAREFUL about how they express themselves" discourse beginning earlier in some spaces this year, so this is your reminder that queer people don't need to be role models to exist in public spaces.
We're allowed to be messy.

We're allowed to fuck up.

We shouldn't have to pass a vibe check, a background check, and a jury ruling of our peers to be able to go outside.

That's some fucking carceral horseshit.
Because I'm sure someone with Twitter brain will see this: I'm not saying queer people should be allowed to be abusive, bigoted, etc. without consequence.

I'm saying that queer people should be allowed to be happy and wear what they like without peers going "BUT THE CHILDREN"

Thread the first: safety backlash.

Y'all have seen my constant nattering on fash and alt-whiters getting mad about the "meltdowns" I've written for V5 and CtL2e and other, similar, games. Those same lads have melted down over @ShannaGermain 's Consent In Gaming.
It's pretty easy to dismiss them, most of the time. The backlash bois down to "BUT MY FREE SPEECH" and misses the critical point that these are SUGGESTIONS and writers do not have the resources or the desire to be table cops

Some people asked for a continuation of my #LessWrong abuse thread. Some people told me I was polluting Kathy's legacy and twisting her words. Some people said I made up my abuse, that I threw in Michael Vassar and Andrew Rettek to get more views.

So I guess I'm continuing.
Before I go on, I wanted to thank @davidgerard at @RationalWiki and the folks at r/Sneer Club for helping propagate Kathy's note. I also want to thank @bi_gendian for being an amazing co-spear carrier and friend.
I also want to include links to some of Kathy's works before I talk about my own abuse some more. Her note is what allowed me to come out publicly in a way that could be spread.
