Oh boy, here we go. Fine, let's do this.

Yes, I did tell @crw_rightsmedia today that they are spreading dangerous misinformation about #COVID19. I did so in the context of a private call with George Roche, CRW's President - a call I didn't even want to have. /1

#lawtwitter
A couple days ago, George called me out of the blue after apparently becoming familiar with my work as a litigator. On that call, George suggested that CRW might have some litigation work for me related to civil rights, and that he wanted to interview me. /2
At the time of this first call with George, I did not know who CRW was or what it stood for. At the end of the call, a further call was scheduled for this morning. /3
After the first call, but before the one today, I did some research, and discovered that CRW, among other things, pushes an #antivaxxers view of #COVID vaccination and related public health policy. I considered (and still consider) this to be misinformed, and dangerous. /4
Upon discovering that CRW's politics and values were incompatible with my own, I sent two (2) emails prior to the scheduled call today, politely advising CRW that I was no longer available to speak, and that if I wished to reschedule I would reach out.

George called me anyway /5
On the call this morning, when I advised about my 2 emails cancelling the call, George advised he hadn't received them, but then asked me to explain. And so, politely, I vaguely advised that our politics/values did not align, and I didn't wish to associate with CRW or George. /6
George, however, would not leave the issue alone, & continued to press. So, I complied - I told him that our views on COVID-19 & related public health policy didn't align. And when he still proceeded to argue with me, I told him he & CRW were spreading dangerous misinformation /7
After the call ended, George & CRW continued to harass me via Twitter direct messages. (I also think I have reasonable grounds to interpret some of those DMs as threats.)

George and CRW then took it upon themselves to make a defamatory tweet about me. /8
I admit, I have mixed feelings here. On the one hand, I don't want to give CRW or George any more public attention. On the other hand, it's difficult to just sit by while I am defamed on social media.

Private advice on this topic would be welcomed in DMs. /9
My hope is that George and CRW will remove their defamatory tweet(s) about me and just move on with their lives, as I have repeatedly suggested.

However, I remain doubtful that this will occur. /10
I believe this thread is generally in the public interest, considering the widespread battle over accurate information regarding #COVID19 and related public health policy;
and would particularly be of interest to anyone considering whether or not to affiliate or interact with CRW

For those who would like to get technical about the meaning of "fascism", here are two good articles:

faena.com/aleph/umberto-…

vox.com/policy-and-pol…

Having considered the matter further, I hereby retract what I said yesterday, about Randy Hillier being a fascist. /1
In fact, technically, I don't even think Trump qualifies as a fascist.

This does not mean, however, that we should be any less concerned about Trump (or Hillier, to a lesser extent), Trumpism, or the rightward malignancies that they are spawning. /2
While Trumpism may not currently meet the technical definition of fascism, it is: (1.) illiberal (2.) right-wing authoritarianism (3.) that openly flirts with violence as an acceptable political strategy & (4.) engages in tactics used by fascists (e.g. negative integration). /3
