Senator Simons’ speech is brilliant. Please watch.

Using her previous profession as a journalist in a province inundated by recurring waves of white supremacy, Senator Simons brings the history and reality of the situation to bear.

It’s feigned shock that many display since this problem has been metastasizing for decades. Senator Simons details the cross burnings and Aryan Nations skin heads of the 1980’s.

This problem has been brewing for a long time. But ignored. It couldn’t happen here.

She castigates the right wing politicians who have courted this fringe element for votes for decades. She doesn’t name names, but we know who they are. Exploiting the angst of ordinary western Canadians to gain support for their anti statist and anti democratic ambitions.

Senator Simons doesn’t limit her condemnation to the conservative enablers. She also has criticism for all other party’s politicians who have made use of this phenomenon for personal and political gain rather than address the problem: Extremism.

She clearly details the level of risk, expressing disappointment and concern that Canadian law enforcement seemed unprepared and strangely unaware of the risk level and associated danger to people, public spaces and national security.

How could law enforcement at the municipal, provincial and national level be so clueless and ill prepared? She certainly has more faith in the leadership within these ranks than I do. It’s not the institution I don’t trust, it’s those who have been appointed to guard it.

I have no doubt municipal, provincial and national law enforcement contains many who have been radicalized by the social media disinformation campaigns orchestrated by domestic and foreign adversaries with deep pockets.

Senator Simons entertains the possibility that incompetence may be a factor. I’m convinced it’s just sheer malice. But that’s my humble opinion, based on years of research.

How disturbing for her to be forced to witness the appropriation of her community’s suffering during WW2 and the Holocaust because some individuals find it inconvenient to wear masks or cope with their freely made choice to remain unvaccinated. I’m so sorry for this @Paulatics

But what’s best about her speech is that she doesn’t confuse the intent of this white supremacist led effort to unseat PMJT as simplified solution to solving the problems of Covid.

Covid is an additional burden that self interested misfits & opportunistic politicians have used.

They’ve used a viral plague to advance their anti democratic agenda and accepted domestic and foreign assistance in planning and funding to get the job of removing democracy as an option done. Thank god they’re also completely inept.

Do we require approval of the EA?

Senator Simons makes a damn good case for why it’s essential.

Domestic and foreign seditionists are attacking Canadian democracy. Even an inept dumb pig finds a truffle from time to time.

So yes. The complicit opposition party members, domestic and foreign radicalized extremists, fifth column law enforcers & criminal wealthy & corporate domestic & foreign donors behind this attempted coup need to be identified and neutralized as a threat to Canadian democracy.

This fight is about freedom and liberty.

The democratic Canadian public’s freedom of choice & liberty to elect the government of their choosing & the expectation that opposition political parties, foreign & domestic wealthy far right ideologues and frustrated citizens respect.

That’s democracy. And that’s what is at stake.

Does the government need exceptional powers to investigate, intervene and protect?

If you are still wondering the answer to that question, no wonder you’re so shocked that this event occurred at all.

Yes. The EA is needed.
