The whole purpose of what they are doing in Sarasota is to disenfranchise voters, as the company in charge of distributing misleading fliers, Data Targeting, has done in the past. 3/12
Interestingly, the local Republicans are counting on people wanting to vote YES on both amendments on the ballot - as we are already trying to renew the mill tax for schools and they have worded the ballot to sound like they're making voting easier. 4/12
The wording makes it seem like this is for our benefit. Would love a native speaker to read over the #Spanish language version, as I hear it sounds even more like they're bolstering #voterprotection measures. When was the last time the GOP cared about making voting fairer? 5/12
Single Member Districts are common among many types of races. Moving to an #atlarge countywide system of voting would be similar to letting the entire state vote on our congressman. Republicans love SMDs for other parts of #Florida - but why not here? news.yahoo.com/republicans-lo… 6/12
@HeraldTribune writer @zacjanderson gets right to the point by stating " Single-member districts can make it easier for the political minority in a community to win a seat." The district of @ChrisMZiegler leans Democrat and contains Newtown (Historic AA community). 7/12
And to no surprise, the @FlaDems aren't sounding too many alarms, despite the wording on the ballot and the disgusting amount of money being poured into Data Targeting, Inc. by a PAC called Sun Coast Alliance ran by William "Stafford" Jones. 8/12
Jones is called a PAC-man because he has been funneling money to disenfranchise voters for years.
@chrismziegler "a county commissioner who is vice chair of the Republican Party of Florida, said he isn't familiar with Sun Coast Alliance." I can’t find Jones’s newest PAC in the Sunbiz directory, but it would be interesting to see when it was registered. 10/12
We are sick of the @FLGOP led by @JoeGruters and @ChrisMZiegler doing everything they can to disenfranchise voters. @SRQRepublicans likely know who has funneled over $100K into a county election and why, but they have a habit of misleading. It's time to demand answers. 12/12
@latinxvote2020 - have you heard any confusion from Spanish speaking voters on the language they used?
