The whole South Caucasus is #Putin's & 🇷🇺's hostage. Armenia. Even Georgia. Even Azerbaijan. We all tried to break free in different ways: revolutions, association agreements, alliances w/ alternative players.
Look at us. Everyone's security in our region is extremely fragile.
That is why Aliyev signed an agreement with Putin a day before his invasion despite years of avoiding formal alliance. That is why Pashinyan didn't tweet his deep concerns (Putin may as well send some Chechen soldiers to Yerevan). That is why Georgia refrained from sanctions.
But it is just so easy to live in a country with $700 billion defence spending and judge us for trying to save our nations from starving, death or enslavement.
So @KevinRothrock, don't judge us for being scared, thinking about our security because we know now really well that all the preaching about values & norms is an empty shell and the West doesn't give a damn whether we in the South Caucasus or in any non-NATO country live or die.

I'm walking to a anti-Russian protest now. I'm raising awareness 24/7. I'm opening my apartment to anyone I know who needs support, encouragement or help.

But when war came to my country in 2020, I was left alone in my uni residence room for weeks w/o a word of sympathy or care.
No one hates war more than I do. I am triggered every minute by visuals, words, videos. It took me almost 1.5 years to get my mental health and stability back after #NagornoKarabakh. But I did that mostly alone, with maybe 2-3 people giving me a shoulder to cry on.
This outpouring sympathy for Ukrainians warms my heart. But it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. I ask myself a question: did my country, did my people deserved it less? Forget ab geopolitics, war is war. It was an unprovoked, unjustified & unforgivable war for us. Only for us.
